Recent Advances in Reactive Microdroplets for Clean Water and Energy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Reactive microdroplets enable precise and sustainable chemistry at small scales. This review explores their role as confined reactors and dynamic interfaces for synthesizing functional materials, fuels, and microdevices. It offers a critical perspective on how droplet‐based platforms can drive next‐generation technologies in clean energy, environmental

Sugars in Antimicrobial Polymers – The Impact of Sugar‐Lectin Binding in Membrane Interaction of Cationic Glycopolymers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Photo‐iniferter polymerization is used to create antimicrobial polymers which are decorated with sugar units by either copolymerization of glycomonomers or post‐polymerization functionalization. Although a selectivity based on lectin binding can not be observed, the presence of sugar leads to improved bioactivity based on the presence of neutral ...

Integration of on-farm biodiesel production with anaerobic digestion to maximise energy yield and greenhouse gas savings from process and farm residues

open access: yes, 2011
Anaerobic co-digestion of residues from the cold pressing and trans-esterification of oilseed rape (OSR) with other farm wastes was considered as a means of enhancing the sustainability of on-farm biodiesel production.

Enabling Additively Manufactured Electronics Through Laser Induced Graphene and Copper Deposition on Fully‐Aromatic Polyimides

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This article introduces a hybrid manufacturing approach to create conductive pathways in additively manufactured fully‐aromatic polyimides. This is enabled through a combination of high‐resolution laser scribing process for fabricating graphene and metallizing it with electrodeposition of copper to further increase conductivity.

Efeitos das condições ambientais sobre o teor e variabilidade dos óleos voláteis de dalbergia frutescens (Vell.) Britton (Fabaceae)

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2012
The volatile oils of Dalbergia frutescens were obtained by hydrodistillation on a Clevenger-modified apparatus for every month of one year and assessed on GC/MS and GC/FID detectors for qualitative and quantitative analyses.

Oil and energy price volatility

open access: yesEnergy Economics, 2007
It is commonly believed that since the 1973 oil crisis, oil and energy prices have been more volatile than other commodity prices. This study examines monthly producer prices for thousands of products over the period January 1945 through August 2005.
