Appropriate Formulations for Velocity and Pressure Calculations at Gas-liquid Interface with Collocated Variable Arrangement

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2009
A high-precision simulation algorithm for gas-liquid two-phase flows on unstructured meshes has been developed to simulate gas entrainment phenomenon in a sodium-cooled fast reactor.

Assessment of Hydrodynamic Loads on an Offshore Monopile Structure Considering Hydroelasticity Effects

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2023
Regular and irregular waves were numerically generated in a wave canal to investigate hydrodynamic loads acting on a wind turbine monopile and to predict its structural response.

Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...

NUMERICAL STUDY OF THE BUBBLE FORMATION MECHANISM IN HORIZONTAL LIQUID-GAS FLOW IN A T-JUNCTION MINICHANNEL

open access: yesRekayasa Mesin
The purpose of this research was to study the mechanism of air bubble formation at the T-Junction Minichannel. Numerical simulations were carried out using the Volume of Fluid (VOF) method on OpenFOAM v2112 with the Pressure Implicit with Splitting of ...

Large Eddy Simulation of Multi-Phase Flow and Slag Entrapment in a Continuous Casting Mold

open access: yesMetals, 2018
A transient, three-dimensional mathematical model has been developed to study the slag entrapment in a continuous casting mold. The unsteady turbulent flow is computed using the large eddy simulation (LES).

Sedimentation of finite-size spheres in quiescent and turbulent environments

open access: yes, 2015
Sedimentation of a dispersed solid phase is widely encountered in applications and environmental flows, yet little is known about the behavior of finite-size particles in homogeneous isotropic turbulence.

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

Numerical Simulation of a Near-Wall Bubble Collapse in an Ultrasonic Field

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2009
Ultrasonic cleaning device was modeled and the collapse of a single bubble in an ultrasonic pressure field was studied using a finite-volume 2D axisymmetrical model.

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.
