ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

FLUID VOLUME MEASUREMENT

open access: yesThe Professional Medical Journal, 2011
Objectives: (1) To measure the difference between the actual and observed volumes of fluids as measured by the commercially available drainage bags. (2) To find out reliability of fluid volume measurements as observed in commercially available drainage bags. Settings: Surgical Unit II, IIMCT Railway Hospital, Rawalpindi.

Mixed‐class J‐domain protein scaffolds promote expanded aggregate handling and multivalent Hsp70 engagement during functional disaggregase assembly

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein aggregates threaten proteostasis and cell health. In human cells, Hsp70–J‐domain protein‐based disaggregases remove aggregates, but how they assemble remains unclear. Our biochemical findings show that DNAJA2‐ and DNAJB1‐containing disaggregase scaffolds enhance luciferase aggregate targeting, and that Hsp70 recruitment by both J‐domain ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Numerical evaluation on the efficiency of the submerged horizontal plate type wave energy converter [PDF]

open access: yesFME Transactions, 2019
The high availability of energy within ocean waves is seen as an important and abundant alternative as a renewable energy source. This paper presents a numerical study of the submerged horizontal plate type wave energy converter, assessing its ...

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...

SIMULATIONS OF THE WATER FREEZING PROCESS – NUMERICAL BENCHMARKS

open access: yesTASK Quarterly, 2003
Three numerical benchmarks concerning the freezing of water in small enclosures are analysed using the commercial FLUENT code. The first case is a steady-state natural convection in a differentially heated cavity for temperatures near the freezing point.

A computational model for three-phase fluid-structure interaction and its application to cellulose microfibril dynamics

open access: yesComputational and Mathematical Biophysics
Three-phase fluid-structure interaction (FSI) problems couple the motion of solid structures and two different fluids, often exhibiting complex dynamics and posing challenges for computational investigation. The main objective of this paper is to present

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.
