Measurement of Extracellular Fluid Volume and Blood Volume in Sheep [PDF]

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Biological Sciences, 1977
Methods are described for the simultaneous measurement of extracellular fluid volume (ECFV) and plasma volume (PV) in sheep using dilution of 82Br (as sodium bromide) and l3lI-labelled ovine gamma globulin. Following injection of 82Br (100 }lCi), equilibrium in blood was reached after 3 h at which time only 4 % of the injected dose was in rumen water ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Computing Interface Curvature from Height Functions Using Machine Learning with a Symmetry-Preserving Approach for Two-Phase Simulations

open access: yesEnergies
The volume of fluid (VOF) method is a popular technique for the direct numerical simulations of flows involving immiscible fluids. A discrete volume fraction field evolving in time represents the interface, in particular, to compute its geometric ...

Determination of gas volume trapped in a closed fluid system [PDF]

open access: yes, 1971
Technique involves extracting known volume of fluid and measuring system before and after extraction, volume of entrapped gas is then computed. Formula derived from ideal gas laws is basis of this method.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Numerical Study on the Transient Thermal Performance of a Two-Phase Closed Thermosyphon

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
The transient thermal performance of phase change and heat and mass transfer in a two-phase closed thermosyphon are studied with computational fluid dynamics (CFD). A CFD model based on the volume of fluid technique is built. Deionized water is specified

Temperature induced pore fluid pressurization in geomaterials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The theoretical basis of the thermal response of the fluid-saturated porous materials in undrained condition is presented. It has been demonstrated that the thermal pressurization phenomenon is controlled by the discrepancy between the thermal expansion ...

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.
