Beam spreading of vortex beams propagating in turbulent atmosphere
Applied Optics, 2012We present some results obtained by numerical modeling of the propagation of vortex beams LG(0l) through a randomly inhomogeneous medium. The vortex beams are the lower order Laguerre-Gaussian modes. Such beams, if propagated under conditions of weak turbulence, also experience distortions, like a Gaussian beam.

Polarization basis for vortex beams
Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2001Attention is called to a polarization basis formed by four Jones vectors that is reducible to two basic structures. In these states the field is linearly polarized at any point, but the polarization direction changes with the angular coordinate. Very simple equations hold for the field lines of these basis vectors.

Generation and characteristics of an anomalous Airy vortex beam from a Lommel vortex beam
Physica Scripta, 2023Abstract A practical method for generating an anomalous Airy vortex beam is proposed, and characteristics of this novel kind beam are investigated. Results show that orbital angular momentum (OAM) quantum number n could be used to modulate the profiles of vortex rings, asymmetric parameter c would cause the beam rotation and phase ...

Physical Review A, 2014
The concept that all de Broglie particles can form vortex beams is analyzed for neutral atoms. It is shown how atoms diffracted from a suitably constructed optical mask configuration employing light of $l$ units of orbital angular momentum and at far-off resonance with an atomic transition can lead to the generation of a discrete set of atom vortex ...

Direct detection receiver for vortex beam
Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2018We present the theory of a direct detection receiver for vortex beams for an optical wireless communication system. The proposed receiver has an array of annular detectors, which enables analysis of power distribution of the vortex beam. We give a detailed description, numerical optimization, and different options for its design.

Revealing the radial modes in vortex beams
Applied Optics, 2016Light beams that carry orbital angular momentum are often approximated by modulating an initial beam, usually Gaussian, with an azimuthal phase variation to create a vortex beam. Such vortex beams are well defined azimuthally, but the radial profile is neglected in this generation approach.
