Diffuser Shape Optimization Using Adjoint Solver [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences
Shape optimization of a diffuser with vortex generator on the inlet that mimics the impeller of a Francis turbine was performed. The optimization is based on the use of the adjoint solver in ANSYS Fluent.

Control of Polarization and Polar Helicity in BiFeO3 by Epitaxial Strain and Interfacial Chemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In BiFeO3 thin films, the interplay of interfacial chemistry, electrostatics, and epitaxial strain is engineered to stabilize homohelicity in polarization textures at the domain scale. The synergistic use of a Bi2O2‐terminated Aurivillius buffer layer and a highly anisotropic compressive epitaxial strain offers new routes to control the polar‐texture ...

Strain‐Programmable Luminescent Adhesive Patch With Tartrazine‐Mediated Optical Skin Clearing for Photochemical Tissue Bonding

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We propose a suture‐complementary approach that integrates optical skin clearing with a strain‐programmable luminescent adhesive patch. Hyaluronic acid promotes transdermal delivery of tartrazine to improve optical clearing and stabilizes its interaction with a photosensitizer. Optical clearing increases the penetration depth of visible light into skin,

Self‐Sintering Ionogel Binder for Flexible, Recyclable, and Healable Printed Giant Magnetoresistive Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Electronic waste has emerged as a major environmental challenge, driven by the massive consumption and a limited lifetime of modern electronic devices, stimulating the development of sustainable electronics. Here, an all‐biomaterial gelatin‐choline‐citric acid ([Ch][CA]) ionogel is developed as an active binder to realize self‐sintered ...

Wind tunnel flow visualization experimental study on the influence of vortex generators on the low-speed characteristics of civil transport aircraft

open access: yesHangkong gongcheng jinzhan
The vortex generator is a simple passive flow control technology that has potential positive benefits for delaying the separation of the fluid boundary layer and improving the take-off and landing performance of the aircraft. Through wind tunnel tests on

Validation of a Model for Estimating the Strength of a Vortex Created from the Bound Circulation of a Vortex Generator

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
A hypothesis was tested and validated for predicting the vortex strength induced by a vortex generator in wall-bounded flow by combining the knowledge of the Vortex Generator (VG) geometry and the approaching boundary layer velocity distribution. In this

EUDP: Advanced Vortex Generators

open access: yes
This report uses the multibody aeroelastic code HAWC2 [1] to evaluate the impact of placing vortex generators (VGs) on an operating wind turbine. The modelled turbine is a Vestas V80-2.0, and the VGs are modelled in a conservative manner to ensure safety during a planned experimental campaign.
