Characterization of Rotavirus VP2 Particles
Virology, 1994Rotavirus particles consist of three concentric proteinaceous capsid layers. The innermost capsid (core) is made of VP2. The genomic RNA and the two minor proteins VP1 and VP3 are encapsidated within this layer. Empty rVP2 particles are produced when insect cells are infected with a recombinant baculovirus which contains the bovine Rf rotavirus gene 2 (

VP2 is the major exposed protein on orbiviruses
Archives of Virology, 1991Iodination of African horsesickness virus and epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus resulted in labeling of VP2 and not of the other capsid protein, VP5, suggesting that VP2 is the major surface exposed protein of these orbiviruses.

SummaryThe capsids of human parvovirus B19 consist of two structural proteins, the minor‐capsid protein VP1 and the major‐capsid protein VP2. The latter which constitutes for 95% of the capsid are able to form virus‐like particles (VLPs) in yeast without the presence of VP1‐proteins.

Phylogenetic Analysis of Canine Parvovirus VP2 Gene in China
Transboundary and Emerging Diseases, 2014In this study, a total of 37 samples (58.0%) were found through PCR assay to be positive for canine parvovirus (CPV) of 66 suspected faecal samples of dogs collected from various cities throughout China. Eight CPV isolates could be obtained in the CRFK cell line.

Porcine parvovirus type 1 (PPV1) is a major causative agent of embryonic and fetal death in swine. The PPV1 VP2 protein is closely associated with viral immunogenicity for eliciting neutralizing antibodies, but its antigenic structures have been largely unknown.

Phylogenetic Analysis of Canine Parvovirus VP2 Gene in Taiwan
Virus Genes, 2005Canine parvovirus (CPV) is a non-enveloped virus with a single-stranded DNA genome and causes infectious enteritis in dog. In this study, 36 isolates of CPV infection were obtained in Taichung, Taiwan from 2003 to 2004. Using primers that can distinguish subtypes of CPV, we amplified part of viral VP2 gene by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and the PCR

Phylogenetic analysis of canine parvovirus partial VP2 gene in India
Virus Genes, 2013A total of 85 samples (58.0 %) were found to be positive for Canine parvovirus (CPV) by PCR assay (Hfor/Hrev primers) out of 158 suspected faecal samples of dogs collected from various states/union territories of India. Nine CPV isolates could be obtained in A-72 cell line.
