Heterologous expression of Bluetongue VP2 viral protein fragment in Pichia pastoris

open access: yesVirus Genes, 2007
The partial VP2-encoding gene of Bluetongue virus serotype 23 (BTV-23) was amplified using reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and inserted into pPICK9K vector. Recombinant plasmid DNA was integrated into the genome of Pichia pastoris by electroporation and expressed protein was identified by SDS-PAGE.

Identification of three PPV1 VP2 protein-specific B cell linear epitopes using monoclonal antibodies against baculovirus-expressed recombinant VP2 protein

Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2015
Porcine parvovirus type 1 (PPV1) is a major causative agent of embryonic and fetal death in swine. The PPV1 VP2 protein is closely associated with viral immunogenicity for eliciting neutralizing antibodies, but its antigenic structures have been largely unknown.

VP2 is the major exposed protein on orbiviruses

Archives of Virology, 1991
Iodination of African horsesickness virus and epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus resulted in labeling of VP2 and not of the other capsid protein, VP5, suggesting that VP2 is the major surface exposed protein of these orbiviruses.

Expression of the Polyomavirus VP2 and VP3 Proteins in Insect Cells: Coexpression with the Major Capsid Protein VP1 Alters VP2/VP3 Subcellular Localization

Virology, 1993
During polyomavirus infection the capsid proteins are synthesized in the cytoplasm and transported into the nucleus were virion assembly occurs. Expression of the major capsid protein VP1 in Sf9 insect cells results in the accumulation of capsid-like particles in the nucleus, independent of the presence of the minor capsid proteins VP2 and VP3 or the ...

Identification of a nuclear localization sequence in the polyomavirus capsid protein VP2

Virology, 1992
A nuclear localization signal (NLS) has been identified in the C-terminal (Glu307-Glu-Asp-Gly-Pro-Gln-Lys-Lys-Lys-Arg-Arg-Leu318) amino acid sequence of the polyomavirus minor capsid protein VP2. The importance of this amino acid sequence for nuclear transport of newly synthesized VP2 was demonstrated by a genetic "subtractive" study using the ...
