The Transcriptional Landscape of Marek’s Disease Virus in Primary Chicken B Cells Reveals Novel Splice Variants and Genes [PDF]
Marek’s disease virus (MDV) is an oncogenic alphaherpesvirus that infects chickens and poses a serious threat to poultry health. In infected animals, MDV efficiently replicates in B cells in various lymphoid organs.

Bluetongue in China: Current Status of Viruses, Vectors, Detection Methods, and Vaccines
Bluetongue (BT) is a vector‐borne viral disease caused by the bluetongue virus (BTV), which can affect a variety of wild and domestic ruminants. Due to its significant impact on ruminant health and national economies, BT is classified as a notifiable multispecies disease by the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH).

Exploiting the LDH Memory Effect in the Carbon Dioxide to Methanol Conversion
The memory effect of CuZnAl layered double hydroxides (LDHs) is exploited to synthesize catalysts for the conversion of carbon dioxide to methanol. Through repeated cycles of calcination‐reconstruction, the formation of increasingly smaller CuO nanoparticles embedded within the recovered LDH structure is promoted.

VP5 of infectious bursal disease virus is not essential for viral replication in cell culture [PDF]
Infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV), a member of the Birnaviridae family, encodes in its bisegmented double-stranded RNA genome four structural virion proteins, VP1, VP2, VP3, and VP4, as well as a nonstructural protein, VP5. Recently, the establishment of an infectious cRNA system for IBDV has been described (E. Mundt and V. N. Vakharia, Proc. Natl.

Abstract Ichthyosaurian faunas before and after the Pliensbachian stage of the Early Jurassic are known from numerous, often complete fossils. The two faunas are very different taxonomically, with only one of the pre‐Pliensbachian genera, but none of the species, persisting into the post‐Pliensbachian (Toarcian).

VP5 autocleavage is required for efficient infection by in vitro-recoated aquareovirus particles
Grass carp reovirus (GCRV) is a member of the genus Aquareovirus in the family Reoviridae, and contains five core proteins (VP1-VP4 and VP6) and two outer-capsid proteins (VP5 and VP7) in its particle. Previous studies have revealed that the outer-capsid proteins of reovirus are responsible for initiating infection, but the mechanism is poorly ...

Bluetongue Virus Outer Capsid Protein VP5 Interacts with Membrane Lipid Rafts via a SNARE Domain [PDF]
ABSTRACT Bluetongue virus (BTV) is a nonenveloped double-stranded RNA virus belonging to the family Reoviridae . The two outer capsid proteins, VP2 and VP5, are responsible for virus entry. However, little is known about the roles of these two proteins, particularly VP5, in virus trafficking and assembly ...

Genome assembly and population genomic analysis reveal the genetic basis of popcorn evolution
Summary Popcorn, one of the world's most popular snack foods, represents the most ancient type of maize domesticated by humans. However, the genetic basis underlying popcorn evolution and kernel‐popping traits remains largely unknown. In this study, we assembled a high‐quality genome sequence of the popcorn landrace Strawberry Popcorn (SP) and ...
