Detection of VSV(MuLV) pseudotypes by an immunobiochemical technique
Virology, 1982Abstract Vesicular stomatitis virus (murine leukemia virus) (VSV(MuLV)) pseudotypes containing a [ 3 H]uridine-labeled VSV RNA genome and MuLV envelope glycoproteins (gp70) were produced by phenotypic mixing of the two viruses. In order to better detect such pseudotypes, an immunobiochemical (IB) technique was developed.

The polycation DEAE-dextran increased the binding of VSV to BHK cells about fourfold over a wide range of VSV concentrations. The same proportion of bound virions was internalized by the cell in the presence or absence of DEAE-dextran. Viral primary RNA production was increased to the equivalent of a 4- to 4.5-fold increase in multiplicity of infection
