Tailored Stitching and Vertical Stacking for High‐Voltage Multifunctional Structural Batteries with Enhanced Electrochemical–Mechanical Coupling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A stitched, vertically stacked CFRP structural battery uses Kevlar interlaminar threads and selective PP/Elium® thermoplastics to maintain tight electrode spacing and robust electrolyte wetting. The architecture sustains electrochemical performance under bending and delivers higher pack voltage via through‐thickness series connections without ...

Synergistic Effect of Dual‐Functional Groups in MOF‐Modified Separators for Efficient Lithium‐Ion Transport and Polysulfide Management of Lithium‐Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study developed a bifunctional metal‐organic framework (UIO‐66‐NH2‐HSO3) modified separator, which shows dual functionality in anchoring LiPS and facilitating Li+ transport. Due to the systematic modification, the assembled LSBs deliver excellent high‐rate performance and ultra‐long cycling stability.

Dual Regulation on Structure‐Interface Enables Coal‐Tar‐Pitch‐Based Hard Carbon Anodes with High Rate and Storage Performance for Sodium Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study utilizes coal tar pitch (waste product generated during the coal conversion process) as a raw material. The core concept of synergistic “structure‐interface” regulation, an innovative system from molecular design to microcrystalline optimization, pore reconstruction, and interface regulation is proposed.

Changes in impedance of Ni electrodes upon standing and cycling [PDF]

open access: yes
Impedances of Ni electrodes vary with many factors including voltage, cycling, and manufacturer. However, results from Ni/H2 cells being tested for Space Station Freedom show that consistent results are obtained within a group of cells from the same ...

Cathode Electrolyte Interphase Engineering by Quaternized Chitosan for Stabilized Li–SPAN Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this work, quaternized chitosan (QCS) is reported as an additive optimizing the sulfurized polyacrylonitrile (SPAN) cathode/electrolyte interphase (CEI). Its high positive charge density adsorbs PF6− anions, enriching the Helmholtz layer with aggregates. This promotes rapid anion desolvation, forming an anion‐derived CEI enriched in LiF.
