Pathological classification of Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy into several types and their relationships with CTG18.1 expansion repeats

open access: yesThe Journal of Pathology, Volume 269, Issue 2, Page 182-196, June 2026.
Abstract Late‐onset Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy (FECD) is the most common primary disease of the corneal endothelium and the leading indication for corneal transplantation in Western countries. It is characterized by progressive accumulation, over two to three decades, of extracellular matrix (ECM) components in Descemet's membrane (DM ...

Probiotic supplementation during pregnancy for vaginal microbiota improvement and pathogen clearance: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 105, Issue 6, Page 999-1016, June 2026.
Probiotic supplementation during pregnancy shows a modest, non‐robust increase in Group B Streptococcus decolonization, with no consistent benefit for bacterial vaginosis or vulvovaginal candidiasis. Probiotics may serve as a non‐antibiotic adjunct, but standardized regimens and ecological diagnostic frameworks are required.

Transcriptomic Profiling of Cutaneous Melanoma Metastases Treated With Microwave Ablation—Pilot Study

open access: yesClinical and Translational Science, Volume 19, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Microwave ablation induces heating of tissue. High energy results in thermal cell death, but low energy treatment without tissue necrosis has been shown to induce cutaneous immunity in an HPV wart model. It is approved as an effective cancer treatment for solid organ cancers, and therefore it is of interest to know if microwave delivered ...

Unveiling coralline diversity of mesophotic rhodoliths in subtropical Japan, including new species of Sporolithon, emended genera Orientalilithon and Roseolithon (Corallinophycidae, Rhodophyta)

open access: yesJournal of Phycology, Volume 62, Issue 3, Page 1044-1070, June 2026.
Abstract The mesophotic zone off Tanegashima Island (approximately 30–40 m deep) is a marine macroalgal hotspot in subtropical Japan; however, the taxonomic diversity of calcifying red algal community remains poorly understood. Our phylogenetic analyses based on psbA, rbcL, and COI‐5P gene markers disclosed the presence of at least 12 rhodolith‐forming
