Photoactivity of bleomycin.

open access: yesBiomedicine & pharmacotherapy = Biomedecine & pharmacotherapie, 1983
The anticancer drug, bleomycin, has recently been shown to be light-sensitive by a number of research groups. This photosensitivity extends to its complexes with iron(II), copper(II), cobalt(III) and DNA. Nicking of DNA by photoactivated bleomycin occurs at lower concentrations than under dark conditions.

Bleomycin resistance conferred by a drug-binding protein

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1988
The protein coded by a bleomycin-resistance gene (ble) cloned from producing actinomycetes was purified from a culture of a recombinant E.coli strain and its action on bleomycin was determined by in vitro assays.

Studies on bleomycin [PDF]

open access: yesCancer, 1967
Bleomycin A, which is a complex of water-soluble peptides produced by a Streptomyces, inhibits DNA synthesis in intact cells of E. coli and HeLa cells and also inhibits Ehrlich carcinoma and Sarcoma 180. When it is injected, it distributes in lung and skin at higher concentration than in blood and kidney.

Magnetic resonance imaging as a non-invasive tool to investigate pulmonary and renal fibrosis in small rodents : method and readout validation, animal model optimization, and substance testing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Pulmonary fibrosis, an end result of various types of lung damage including interstitial pneumonia and respiratory bronchiolitis (Gross and Hunninghake, 2001; Katzenstein and Myers, 1998; Lazenby et al., 1990) is a lethal disease characterized by ...

Endogenous annexin A1 counter-regulates bleomycin-induced lung fibrosis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Background The balancing functions of pro/anti-inflammatory mediators of the complex innate responses have been investigated in a variety of experimental inflammatory settings. Annexin-A1 (AnxA1) is one mediator of endogenous anti-inflammation, affording
