Adsorption of Nitrobenzene from Water onto High Silica Zeolites and Regeneration by Ozone [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This work investigates the removal of nitrobenzene (NB), a model pollutant from water, by combining adsorption onto zeolites and regeneration with ozone.

Surface‐State–Regulated Product Distribution in Photothermal CO2 Hydrogenation Over MXene‐Based S‐Scheme Catalyst

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
This work establishes an MXene‐based S‐scheme heterojunction in which the cooperative interplay among metallic Ni, surface NiOx domains, and conductive Ti3C2Clx drives efficient charge separation and photothermal coupling. Progressive evolution of Ni surface states regulates the CH4/CH3OH product distribution by modulating interfacial energetics and ...

Catalytic Ozonation of Phenolic Wastewater: Identification and Toxicity of Intermediates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A new strategy in catalytic ozonation removal method for degradation and detoxification of phenol from industrial wastewater was investigated. Magnetic carbon nanocomposite, as a novel catalyst, was synthesized and then used in the catalytic ozonation ...

Selective solvation in aqueous mixtures: Interface deformations and instability

open access: yes, 2012
We briefly review the effects of selective solvation of ions in aqueous mixtures, where the ion densities and the composition fluctuations are strongly coupled.

In Situ Amine Formation to Modulate MOF‐Derived PdIn N‐Doped Carbon Catalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An amine‐assisted approach converts PdIn‐MOF into PdIn intermetallic nanoparticles embedded in N‐doped carbon. In situ‐generated amines trigger early Pd nucleation, producing smaller PdIn domains than direct pyrolysis. Amine sterics and basicity tune composition and particle size, while solvent and amine co‐determine textural features.

Rapid Electroosmosis Measurements [PDF]

open access: yes, 1971
A cell has been designed and built that allows for rapid measurement of volume moved in a definite time by electroosmosis. The cell is simple to use and is not very elaborate.

Surface tension of electrolytes: Hydrophilic and hydrophobic ions near an interface

open access: yes, 2008
We calculate the ion distributions around an interface in fluid mixtures of highly polar and less polar fluids (water and oil) for two and three ion species. We take into account the solvation and image interactions between ions and solvent. We show that

Re-evaluating the list of high-production chemicals predicted to become Arctic contaminants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The large number of historical and current organic chemicals in commerce, and the ability of these compounds to make their way from industrial to remote regions, has resulted in concerted efforts to predict which chemicals have the capacity to migrate ...
