Influence of Chemical Extraction Conditions on the Physicochemical and Functional Properties of Polysaccharide Gum from Durian (<em>Durio</em> <em>zibethinus</em>) Seed

open access: yesMolecules, 2012
Durian seed is an agricultural biomass waste of durian fruit. It can be a natural plant source of non-starch polysaccharide gum with potential functional properties.

WATER HOLDING CAPACITY OF “MYOSIN” GEL

open access: yesNIPPON SUISAN GAKKAISHI, 1966
Water holding capacity (WHC) of myosin-fraction (“M”) gel was determined under varied pH conditions by centrifugal method (8, 000rpm, 20 min.). 1. WHC of “M” gel is greater than that of muscle homogenate, being maximum in isoelectric zone in contrast with the latter which is minimum in this region. 2.

Water addition, evaporation and water holding capacity of poultry litter [PDF]

open access: yesScience of The Total Environment, 2015
Litter moisture content has been related to ammonia, dust and odour emissions as well as bird health and welfare. Improved understanding of the water holding properties of poultry litter as well as water additions to litter and evaporation from litter will contribute to improved litter moisture management during the meat chicken grow-out.

Comparing the Water-holding Characteristics of Broadleaved, Coniferous, and Mixed Forest Litter Layers in a Karst Region

open access: yesMountain Research and Development, 2018
Karst forests are often located in mountainous regions, and because of various geological factors both soil and water loss are major conservation concerns.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Effects of Biochar on Saturated Water Holding Capacity of Red Clay and Plant Growth [PDF]

open access: yes长江科学院院报
Biochar is an environmentally friendly soil modifier due to its porous and high specific surface area. To investigate its impact on the water-holding capacity of red clay and the growth of common slope grass species, we selected red clay from Guilin as ...

Kapasitas Penyerapan Dan Penyimpanan Air Pada Berbagai Ukuran Gel Dari Tepung Karaginan Untuk Pembuatan Media Tanam Jeloponik [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
There is a trend in using gel for hydrophonic. We examine the potency of water absortion and holding capacity from different size of carrageenan gel. This research was conducted from may to july 2006.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.
