Water entry of a superhydrophobic low-density sphere [PDF]
This paper virtually demonstrates an air cavity formed by a superhydrophobic low-density sphere entering into water with the use of a high-speed camera. Unlike the previous results for a high-density sphere, the low-density sphere pinches off the resulting air cavity at the shorter depth before the cavity has fully grown, and attracts minimal air on ...

Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Numerical Investigation on the Shallow Water Entry of Wedges [PDF]
The presence of the ground may influence hydrodynamic loads acting on structures in some water entry problems, such as the operation of high-speed planning vessels and the emergency landing of aircrafts in shallow rivers. While most investigations have been focused on the water entry with infinite water depth, the water entry with finite water depth is

CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Numerical Simulation of Water Entry Process of Trans-Medium Vehicles
The trans-medium water entry process of vehicles is often accompanied by multiphase flow, cavitation, phase change, and turbulence instability, which not only heighten the complexity of the flow field, but also render the forces highly unsteady and ...

Sites of entry of water into the symplast of maize roots [PDF]
SUMMARYFollowing our publication of a new method of calculating rates of water uptake by roots from measurements of the rate of accumulation on the roots of a marker solute, this paper describes the sites of accumulation of the solute, which indicate the sites where the water entered the symplast.

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Numerical simulation on influencing factors of high speed water entry
The accurate prediction of high speed water entry is very crucial for the research on improving the penetration abilities of underwater vehicles. In this paper, the water entry problem of an axisymmetric blunt vehicle with velocities ranging from 200m/s ...
