Methane flux: Water table relations in northern wetlands
Water table position, through the creation of aerobic and anaerobic conditions in the soil profile, plays an important role in controlling CH4 flux from wetlands. A laboratory study of peat columns revealed that CH4emission rates initially increased

Biological treatment and thickening with a hollow fibre membrane bioreactor [PDF]
Aerobic operation of an immersed hollow fibre membrane bioreactor, treating municipal wastewater supplemented with molasses solution, has been studied across mixed liquor suspended solids (MLSS) concentrations between 8 and 32 g L-1, the higher ...

EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Sediment water column nutrient exchanges in southern Chesapeake Bay nearshore environments
Using field and modeling methodology, the effects of benthic microcommunities and physical transport mechanisms on sediment nutrient flux were investigated for two nearshore sediment types on Virginia's Eastern Shore.

Increased water flux induced by an aquaporin-1/carbonic anhydrase II interaction
Aquaporin-1 (AQP1) enables greatly enhanced water flux across plasma membranes. The cytosolic carboxy terminus of AQP1 has two acidic motifs homologous to known carbonic anhydrase II (CAII) binding sequences.

We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Tubular agglutinated foraminifera as indicators of organic carbon flux
The dimensions of tubular agglutinated foraminifera such as Rhizammina and Rhabdammina respond in a predictable manner to changes in the flux of organic carbon to the sea floor. In both the modern western North Atlantic and in an ancient example (the K/

Distribution and Air-Sea Exchange Flux of CO2 over the Marginal Seas surrounding Taiwan during Late Spring through Early Summer, 2008 [PDF]
[[abstract]]The distribution of CO2 in the surface water and the sea-air flux exchange in the sea areas around Taiwan are investigated in this study, and to discuss the reason of variation and the relationship with the distribution of water mass ...

Soil Water Dynamics of Shallow Water Table Soils Cultivated With Potato Crop
Agricultural areas with shallow water tables usually rely on upward soil water flux to supply crop evapotranspiration (ETc). The study objective was to determine optimum water table levels for coarse-textured soils cultivated with potato ( L.) by ...
