Using soil surface gray level to determine surface soil water content [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
How to determine surface soil water content (SWC) quickly and accurately is fundamental in studying eco-hydrological processes and their modeling. Here we use laboratory experiments to determine surface SWC using soil surface gray level (SGL) values.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Impact of Three Gorges Reservoir Operation on Water Level at Jiujiang Station and Poyang Lake in the Yangtze River

open access: yesHydrology
The variation in water level at Jiujiang Station (JJS) directly affects flow exchange between the Yangtze River and the Poyang Lake. Quantitative research on the influencing factors of water level changes at JJS is of great importance for water supply ...

Sea level variability in South African estuaries

open access: yesSouth African Journal of Science, 2013
Sea level variability in the coastal ocean affects water levels in adjacent estuaries over a wide range of periods and to varying distances landward. An assessment is given here of the responses of a number of South African estuaries, focusing on tidal ...

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Monitoring Seasonal Hydrological Dynamics of Minerotrophic Peatlands Using Multi-Date GeoEye-1 Very High Resolution Imagery and Object-Based Classification

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2012
The La Grande River watershed, located in the James Bay region (54°N, Quebec, Canada), is a major contributor to the production of hydroelectricity in the province. Peatlands cover up to 20% of the terrestrial environment in this region.

Groundwater resources in Champaign County [PDF]

open access: yes, 1950
This investigation is part of a state – wide investigation of groundwater resources being conducted by the State Water Survey Division. Records of more than 1400 wells have been tabulated. These wells penetrate one or more of three separate and distinct

Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.
