Drivers and Challenges of Micro‐Irrigation Adoption and Intensity in India: A Study of Four States

open access: yesIrrigation and Drainage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT India's food security relies substantially on groundwater, but inefficient irrigation is seriously depleting this resource. Micro‐irrigation (MI) improves irrigation application efficiency and productivity, yet adoption remains low. This study examines MI adoption across four major Indian states—Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and ...

Responses of two temperate evergreen Nothofagus species to sudden and gradual waterlogging: relationships with distribution patterns Respuestas de dos especies siempreverdes de Nothofagus al anegamiento gradual y repentino: relaciones con patrones de dist [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The effects of gradual waterlogging on trees have been little studied. The temperate evergreens Nothofagus nitida and N. dombeyi are differentially distributed on soil moisture gradients, only the former being common on poorly-drained sites.

Effect of bio‐fertilization and edapho‐climatic conditions on chickpea nodulation, grain yields, and seed protein in a Mediterranean context: a meta‐analysis approach

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract Chickpeas (Cicer arietinum L.) serve as a protein‐rich staple, particularly in Mediterranean countries, where they are often grown in marginal and water‐stressed areas. This meta‐analysis synthesized evidence from peer‐reviewed publications across Mediterranean countries to assess how chickpea rhizobial inoculation influences chickpea ...

Dietary taurine supplementation can improve the growth, protein metabolism, immunity and muscle development of larval largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides)

open access: yesAquaculture Reports
This study aimed to explore the impact of dietary taurine supplementation on the growth, amino acid transport, protein metabolism, immunity, and muscle and skeletal development of larval largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides). The larvae (initial weight:

The waterlogging of floating objects [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Mechanics, 2007
We consider the dynamical processes by which a dense, porous object floating in a body of liquid becomes waterlogged and sinks. We first generalize the classic model of capillary rise in a porous medium to present an analytically tractable model of the process, which is valid for objects that are very shallow compared to their horizontal extent.

The mechanisms behind the contrasting responses to waterlogging in black-grass (Alopecurus myosuroides) and wheat (Triticum aestivum) [PDF]

open access: yes
Black-grass (Alopecurus myosuroides) is one of the most problematic agricultural weeds of Western Europe causing significant yield losses in winter wheat (Triticum aestivum) and other crops through competition for space and resources.

Waterlogging-responsive Genes Revealed by Transcriptome Sequencing in Leaves of Two Crabapple Species with Contrasting Waterlogging Tolerance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Crabapples (Malus sp.) are ornamental woody plants that belong to the Rosaceae family. Flooding has severely hampered the growth and development of crabapple, and little is known about the molecular responses of crabapple to waterlogging tolerance ...

Assessing plant water status: Part 1 – Classical methods

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract As a result of the changing climate, water scarcity poses a significant threat to crop and pasture production. Although soil water content can indicate drought, its measurements often provide limited spatial resolution and are weakly correlated with plant water status, producing misleading drought assessments.

Effects of waterlogging stress on antioxidative enzyme system in different barley genotypes

open access: yes浙江大学学报. 农业与生命科学版, 2009
Antioxidant enzyme activities and malondialdehyde (MDA) content of two barley cultivars, Yerong (waterlogging-tolerant) and Franklin (waterlogging-sensitive) were studied with a field experiment under control and waterlogging stress.
