Quantitative measures of corrosion and prevention: application to corrosion in agriculture [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
The corrosion protection factor (c.p.f.) and the corrosion condition (c.c.) are simple instruments for the study and evaluation of the contribution and efficiency of several methods of corrosion prevention and control. The application of c.p.f.

Thermo‐Mechanically Recyclable Smart Textiles from Circularly Knitted Liquid Crystal Elastomer Fibers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Reprogrammable multi‐material smart textiles knitted from liquid crystal elastomer fibers undergo 2D and 3D deformation under thermal and photo stimuli. Circularly knitted tubular structures reversibly contract in radial and axial directions, enabling autonomous climbing, liquid release, and micro pumping.

Thermal and Rheological Properties of Fischer–Tropsch Wax/High‐Flow LLDPE Blends

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering
Waxes find use as processing aids in filled compounds and polyethylene‐based masterbatches. In such applications, the thermal and physical property changes they impart to the polymer matrix are important.

Bi- and tri-dentate imino-based iron and cobalt pre-catalysts for ethylene oligo-/polymerization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Recent progress on the use of iron and cobalt complex pre-catalysts for ethylene reactivity is reviewed. The review is organized in terms of the denticity of the chelate ligands employed, with particular reference to the influence of the ligand ...

Microfluidic Platform for Multiparametric Profiling of Fibrin Permeability, Fibrinolysis, and Cell Invasion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This paper introduces a single‐channel H‐junction microfluidic assay that profiles fibrin's evolving function in repair and thrombosis by measuring, in one ∼3 µL gel, permeability, fibrinolysis kinetics, fibroblast invasion, and clot extension in real time.

Structure Formation in Butterfly Scales: Interplay of Genetic Control, Mechanical Instabilities, and Dynamic Material Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Butterfly wing scales are intricate cuticular functional nanosctructures. This perspective suggests that spatially varying material properties, cytoskeletal constraints, and growth‐driven mechanical instabilities shape the resulting nanoscale architectures created from single cells.

Expression of ovate family protein 8 affects epicuticular waxes accumulation in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesBotanical Studies, 2018
Background Transcription factors could regulate multiple aspects of plants growth and development, which is significant to plants. Ovate family proteins (OFPs) that are named due to contain OVATE domain, a 70-AA C-terminal conserved domain from the ...

Les cires végétales : sources et applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Waxes are mixture of long-chain apolar lipids of mineral, synthetic or natural (produced by living organisms) origin. In the plant kingdom, waxes that cover the different parts of the plant play the role of a physical and/or chemical barrier towards the ...

The Terminal Domains of Collagen‐Like Silk Direct Molecular Interactions and Liquid–Liquid Phase Separation‐Mediated Material Assembly

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Terminal domains of recombinant collagen‐like silk regulate hierarchical self‐assembly across molecular and material scales. We show that terminal domains of collagen‐like silk enhance triple‐helix stability and drive liquid–liquid phase separation, enabling reversible formation of fibers and self‐healing films.

A General Correlation between the Temperature-Dependent Solubility and Solute and Solvent Molar Masses in Binary n-Alkane Mixtures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
An increasingly popular solution in the oil-industry is long-distance sub-sea transportation of unprocessed well-streams. This will commonly expose the oil to temperatures significantly below the reservoir temperature, and possibly below the wax ...
