Wear Rates of Resin Composites
Operative Dentistry, 2013SUMMARY A laboratory study was conducted to examine the wear of resin composite materials using a generalized wear simulation model. Ten specimens each of five resin composites (Esthet•X [EX], Filtek Supreme Plus [SP], Filtek Z250 [Z2], Tetric EvoCeram [EC], and Z100 Restorative [Z1]) were subjected to wear challenges of 100,000, 400,000,

Effect of Tire Wear on Wear Rate
Tire Science and Technology, 1975Abstract A question arises as to whether the wear rate of tires is constant under constant conditions and whether the tread life of tires may therefore be projected by linear extrapolation from low mileage tests. A second question arises as to whether commercially produced tires are uniform enough to serve as monitors of environmental change. A

Prediction of Tire Tread Wear Rate and Tread Wear Rate Differences
Tire Science and Technology, 1979Abstract A method is presented for the analysis of tread wear test data, having the principal aim of predicting the ultimate tread life from results of a test suspended near the halfway mark. This method uses standard regression analysis of a suitable model followed by Bayesian inference to produce subjective probability distributions of ...

Wear-rate transitions and their relationship to wear mechanisms
Acta Metallurgica, 1987Abstract This paper is concerned with ways of classifying wear and presenting the information on a wear map. The unlubricated sliding wear of steel is classified into seven elementary mechanisms of material removal. The two principal modes of wear, namely mild and severe wear, provide an alternative but related classification.

Radiation sterilization and the wear rate of polyethylene
Journal of Orthopaedic Research, 1984AbstractThe resistance to sliding wear was measured in bovine serum for two polyethylenes with molecular weights of about 105 and 106 that had been irradiated in air and nitrogen with γ‐ray dosages up to 20 Mrad. Molecular weight measurements were performed after irradiation as well.

Abstract During the early stages of tire wear, the wear rate determined from groove depth measurements may reflect a dimensional change not associated with rubber loss, that is superimposed on the tread loss. The combined effect can be fit with an exponential decay curve relating groove depth to miles run.
