Rate of Wear in Total Hip Replacement
Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1975The wear of high molecular weight polyethylene sockets was measured on radiographs, over a period of 9 to 10 years, in a group of patients whose ages averaged 73.3 years at the end of the period. The average rate of wear was 0.15 mm/year and 68 per cent of patients followed this pattern. Wear more than 2.5 mm in 10 years occurred in 15 per cent.

This paper contains exhaustive analytical data on factors contributing to wear. The wear of a deformed body interacting with an absolutely rigid rough solid is considered. It is believed that wear results from the deformation of a body due to geometrical and mechanical factors and due to the adhesion bonds thereof.

Wear rates of regular and tempered composites
Journal of Dentistry, 1997One of the reasons for using composite inlays is that restorations can be tempered. Composites tempered with heat and light have, at least initially, an enhanced degree of cure which, it is claimed, improves their physical properties, including wear resistance.

Tooth Wear Rates Among Contemporary Australian Aborigines
Journal of Dental Research, 1983Most reports of Aboriginal tooth wear have been descriptive, and few have dealt with the question of wear rate. This study records cusp heights of dental casts taken from individuals during a growth study of Aboriginal children from ages six to 18. Their rates of wear were greater than those of Europeans, and the most rapid rate was recorded among ...

В процессах добычи и подготовки газа эрозия металла может происходить под действием песка, выносимого из продуктивного пласта при определенных режимах эксплуатации скважин. Определение степени влияния механических примесей на работу оборудования и газосборных сетей является сложной задачей.

The relationship between crack propagation rates and wear rates
Wear, 1977Abstract In order to check qualitatively the validity of the analysis of crack propagation in delamination wear, wear experiments were performed with 7075-T6 and 2024-T3 aluminum alloys. The former alloy has a higher hardness (by 25%) and a faster crack propagation rate (3–10 times) in normal fatigue tests than the latter.

Rate of Wear of Pharmaceutical Tablets
Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy, 1993AbstractSeveral methods are presented to quantitatively measure the wear of compressed tablets. The natural logarithm of the weight fraction, W/Wo, decreases linearly with increasing wear time. Thus, the wearability of a tablet may be described by a first-order rate constant or its half life.

NOZZLE WEAR RATES AND TEST PROCEDURE
Transactions of the ASAE, 1991ABSTRACT The wear rates of fan spray tips were determined. Both nominal capacity and construction material greatly influenced wear rates of the tips. Equations were developed for relationships between usage times and changes in flow rates through the tips.

Wear, 1971
Abstract The wear rates of hemispherical and cylindrical specimens initially decrease with distance slid; the pattern of wear behaviour of such specimens however, is relatively simple. The wear rate of metals depends upon their dynamic rather than their static hardness.

Dental wear, wear rate, and dental disease in the African apes
American Journal of Primatology, 2010AbstractThe African apes possess thinner enamel than do other hominoids, and a certain amount of dentin exposure may be advantageous in the processing of tough diets eaten byGorilla. Dental wear (attrition plus abrasion) that erodes the enamel exposes the underlying dentin and creates additional cutting edges at the dentin‐enamel junction ...
