Dietary Protein Intake and Peritoneal Protein Losses in Peritoneal Dialysis Patients

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients lose protein in their waste dialysate, potentially increasing their risk for malnutrition. We wished to determine whether there was any association between losses and dietary protein intake (DPI). Methods DPI was assessed from 24‐h dietary recall using Nutrics software.

Rare regions of the susceptible-infected-susceptible model on Barabási-Albert networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
I extend a previous work to susceptible-infected-susceptible (SIS) models on weighted Barabási-Albert scale-free networks. Numerical evidence is provided that phases with slow, power-law dynamics emerge as the consequence of quenched disorder and tree ...

Mean‐Variance‐CvaR Model of Multiportfolio Optimization via Linear Weighted Sum Method [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, 2014
We propose a new approach to optimizing portfolios to mean‐variance‐CVaR (MVC) model. Although of several researches have studied the optimal MVC model of portfolio, the linear weighted sum method (LWSM) was not implemented in the area. The aim of this paper is to investigate the optimal portfolio model based on MVC via LWSM.

Effects of the Fluid Replacement Method During Online Hemodiafiltration on the Solute Removal Performance and Biocompatibility Using the Asymmetric Cellulose Triacetate Membrane

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Pre‐dilution online hemodiafiltration (Pre‐HDF) is predominantly used in Japan, whereas post‐dilution online HDF (Post‐HDF) is more common in Europe. An asymmetric cellulose triacetate (ATA) membrane may improve biocompatibility.

Weighted Means and Summability by Generalized Nörlund and Other Methods

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 1994
Work of the first author and \textit{T. Markovich} [J. Approximation Theory 68, No. 1, 49-55 (1992; Zbl 0745.40006)] is carried on, employing the generalized Nörlund matrix \((p_{n - k} p_ k/ \sum^ n_{k = 0} p_{n - k} p_ k : 0 \leq k \leq n)\) method \((N,p,p)\), as considered by the second author [Math. An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

A Method for Building the Grid-Based Atmospheric Weighted Mean Temperature Model Considering the Hourly NSTLR

open access: yesAtmosphere
The weighted mean temperature (Tm) is a critical parameter for converting zenith wet delay (ZWD) to precipitable water vapor (PWV) in Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) meteorology.

Multi-Modal Mean-Fields via Cardinality-Based Clamping [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Mean Field inference is central to statistical physics. It has attracted much interest in the Computer Vision community to efficiently solve problems expressible in terms of large Conditional Random Fields.

On Tauberian theorems for statistical weighted mean method of summability

open access: yesFilomat, 2016
In this paper we establish some new Tauberian theorems for the statistical weighted mean method of summability via the weighted general control modulo of the oscillatory behavior of nonnegative integer order of a real sequence. The main results improve the well-known classical Tauberian theorems which are given for weighted mean method of ...
