Control Charts Based on Weighted Sums

open access: yesThe Annals of Statistics, 1974
In a continuous production process, samples of fixed size are taken at regular intervals of time and a statistic $X_n$ is computed from the $n$th sample, $n = 1,2, \cdots$. In this paper, we study process inspection schemes which stop the production and take corrective action with $N = \text{first} n \geqq 1$ such that $\sum^n_{i=1} c_{n-i} X_i \geqq h$

Estimating Sum by Weighted Sampling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We study the classic problem of estimating the sum of n variables. The traditional uniform sampling approach requires a linear number of samples to provide any non-trivial guarantees on the estimated sum. In this paper we consider various sampling methods besides uniform sampling, in particular sampling a variable with probability proportional to its ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Estimates for Fourier sums and eigenvalues of integral operators via multipliers on the sphere

open access: yes, 2014
We provide estimates for weighted Fourier sums of integrable functions defined on the sphere when the weights originate from a multiplier operator acting on the space where the function belongs. That implies refined estimates for weighted Fourier sums of

The atomic decomposition of harmonic functions satisfying certain conditions of integrability

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1995
Distributions on Euclidean spaces with derivatives of their Poisson integral satisfying certain natural conditions of integrability are represented as sums of weighted atoms.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Large Deviation Probabilities for Weighted Sums

open access: yesThe Annals of Mathematical Statistics, 1972
Taking as our point of departure the methods and results in a 1960 paper of Bahadur and Ranga Rao, we derive asymptotic representations of large deviation probabilities for weighted sums of independent, identically distributed random variables. The main theorem generalizes the Bahadur-Ranga Rao result in the absolutely continuous case.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Weighted divisor sums and Bessel function series, IV

open access: yesThe Ramanujan Journal, 2012
The paper is devoted to an identity published in Ramanujan's Lost Notebook (p. 335) involving a finite trigonometric sum and a doubly infinite series of Bessel functions, connected with the classical divisor and circle problems. First the result from the notebook is generalized to an identity for Riesz sums (taking \(\nu=1\) below, the original ...

The Almost Sure Convergence for Weighted Sums of Linear Negatively Dependent Random Variables [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Sciences, Islamic Republic of Iran, 2009
In this paper, we generalize a theorem of Shao [12] by assuming that is a sequence of linear negatively dependent random variables. Also, we extend some theorems of Chao [6] and Thrum [14]. It is shown by an elementary method that for linear negatively
