Development of a Capacitance-Resistive Model Accounting for Shut-in Wells

open access: yes, 2018
Capacitance-Resistance Model (CRM) is a nonlinear signal processing model which provides information about the interwell communication and reservoir heterogeneity. This method is a simple data-driven model which enables reservoir engineers to use injection and production historical data to perform history matching, forecast the future performance and ...

α‐Synuclein aggregation landscape from phase separation to neurotoxic intermediates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Alpha‐synuclein aggregation in Parkinson's disease involves a complex landscape of transient intermediates, including oligomers, fibrils and liquid–liquid phase separation (LLPS). A view is emerging in which LLPS maturation into solid‐like condensates may contribute to the formation of neurotoxic species.

Study on Flow Resistance of Discharge Valve Cover of Subsurface Pump in Polymer Flooding Well

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2019
During the oil production process under polymer flooding, the flow resistance of the discharge valve cover of subsurface pump is usually significant owing to the high viscosity of the fluid, which presents a challenge to the load analysis and ...

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Investigating transcription factor dynamics in health and disease using FRAP

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FRAP analysis of GFP‐tagged transcription factors reveals how molecular mobility and target engagement change in response to drug treatment. By combining live‐cell imaging, quantitative model fitting, and statistical analysis, this approach uncovers transcription factor dynamics linked to disease mechanisms, providing a powerful framework for ...
