Mass transfer during the osmotic dehydration of West Indian cherry

open access: yesLWT - Food Science and Technology, 2012
AbstractThe main purpose of this work was to study water loss, solids gain, and weight and moisture reduction during the osmotic dehydration process of the West Indian cherry (Malpighia punicifolia). The diffusion coefficient of West Indian cherry was estimated by the inverse method using average moisture contents.

Effect of operating temperature on component distribution of West Indian cherry juice in a microfiltration system

open access: yesLWT - Food Science and Technology, 2005
Abstract Microfiltration (MF) with a 0.14 μm cut-off tubular ceramic membrane was used to clarify West Indian cherry juice under operating conditions of flow rate 8.0 l/min, pressure 0.2 MPa and temperatures 10–40 °C. The analytical results demonstrated that heat treatment was effective in reducing fouling layer specific resistance.

Unusual pollinator attractants increase the fructification rate on West Indian Cherry Trees

Journal of Applied Entomology, 2022
AbstractAlthough West Indian Cherry (WIC) trees have abundant flowering, specimens of this species have low fructification rates, potentially associated with the dependence of these plants on pollinators for cross‐pollination and fruit production. We quantified fructification rates and assessed the market value of pollination services by conducting an ...

Morphophysiology of West Indian cherry irrigated with salt water under combination of doses of nitrogen and potassium

2019
