White spot syndrome virus infection: Threat to crustacean biodiversity in Vembanad Lake, India

open access: yesBiotechnology Reports, 2015
The Vembanad Lake located on the south-west coast of India, an ecological hotspot is the nursing ground of many economically important crustaceans. The prevalence of white spot syndrome virus (WSSV) among crustaceans from farmed, estuarine and marine ...

Localization studies of two white spot syndrome virus structural proteins VP51 and VP76

open access: yesVirology Journal, 2006
VP51 and VP76 are two structural proteins of white spot syndrome virus (WSSV). However, there is some controversy about their localization in the virion at present. In this study, we employ multiple approaches to reevaluate the location of VP51 and VP76.

Studies on expression and biochemical characteristics of single chain fragment variable A1 against white spot syndrome virus of shrimp

open access: yes, 2006
White Spot Syndrome Virus (WSSV) was first found in Taiwan in 1992. And since 1993, while spot syndrome disease of Shrimps caused by this virus was widely spread throughout China. Asia and pan-Pacific Ocean.

Ovarian Cancer: Epidemiology, Disease Mechanisms, New Diagnosis and Treatment Strategies, and Research Directions

open access: yesiNew Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Ovarian cancer (OC) continues to be the deadliest gynecological malignancy and a significant cause of cancer‐related mortality among women worldwide. Standard treatment strategies typically entail platinum‐based chemotherapy in conjunction with cytoreductive surgery.

Susceptibility of Litopenaeus schmitti and Cherax quadricarinatus to white spot syndrome virus (WSSV)

open access: yesCiencias Marinas, 2004
Bioassays were carried out in a closed system to evaluate the susceptibility of Litopenaeus schmitti and Cherax quadricarinatus to white spot syndrome virus (WSSV) using L. vannamei as the positive control reference species.

White Spot Syndrome Virus in cultured shrimp: A review

open access: yesAquaculture Research, 2007
Shrimp is one of the main aquaculture species in the world. Different viruses affect them, which causes serious mortality to economically important species, such as Penaeus monodon, Litopenaeus vannamei and L. stylirostris, among others. White spot syndrome virus or WSSV is a highly lethal, stress-dependent virus, which belongs to the family ...

Complement C3 mediates adolescent social isolation‐induced hippocampal synaptic deficits and sex‐specific emotional dysfunction

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
Adolescent social isolation disrupts hippocampal function and exacerbates emotional symptoms, with sex‐specific patterns, as shown by human studies. In mice, social isolation decreased hippocampal synaptic density and calcium signaling, upregulated complement proteins, and activated complement‐mediated microglial synaptic phagocytosis.

Characterization of an early gene (wsv477) from shrimp white spot syndrome virus (WSSV)

open access: yes, 2007
White spot syndrome virus (WSSV) is one of the most virulent pathogens causing high mortality in shrimp. The viral early genes play a key role in DNA replication and virus proliferation.
