Reproductive stages in lowbush blueberry (Vaccinium angustifolium) occur earlier with increasing temperature

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise Climate change is altering the timing of many plant phenological events, yet most studies focus on flowering, with less attention given to later reproductive stages such as fruit development and ripening. Vaccinium angustifolium (lowbush blueberry) is an important perennial berry species that may be sensitive to these changes.

Soft Interactions, Rather Than Crowder Size, Determine Deviations From Arrhenius‐Like Kinetics of Phosphofructokinase‐1

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Our study investigates macromolecular crowding effects in the Arrhenius‐like and non‐Arrhenius temperature regimes of the human platelet isoform of phosphofructokinase‐1 (PFKP). The results reveal how PFKP maintains temperature robustness of catalytic activity in differently crowded environments.

A Rare Form of Microcephalic Primordial Dwarfism due to NSMCE2 Deficiency (Seckel Syndrome Type 10): A Report of Macular Involvement

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Biallelic variants in NSMCE2 (MMS21), which encodes the SUMO E3 ligase subunit of the SMC5/6 chromatin‐maintenance complex, have recently been implicated in microcephalic primordial dwarfism (MPD), corresponding to Seckel syndrome type 10 (OMIM #617246).

SUGAR BEET RESPONSE TO BALANCED NITROGEN FERTILIZATION WITH PHOSPHORUS AND POTASSIUM PART III. DYNAMICS OF WHITE SUGAR YIELD DEVELOPMENT

open access: yes, 2016
The main objective of the study was to evaluate the dynamics of white sugar yield (WSY) by beet crop under conditions of imbalanced application of key nutrients, such as P, K with respect to N. The fi eld trial arranged as one-factorial design was

Aortic valve disease: Novel animal models for advancing our understanding of the underlying mechanisms

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Due to the complex pathophysiology of aortic valve disease (AVD) and the resulting lack of effective pharmacotherapy, existing animal models are valuable research tools, but each has its own strengths and limitations. This review systematically surveys the major AVD models, compares their induction methods, pathological features, advantages and ...

Impacts of Sugar Free Trade Agreements on the U.S. Sugar Industry [PDF]

open access: yes
We use a multi-region GTAP model to study the implications of a global sugar free trade agreement on the U.S. sugar industry. In general, the sugar net importing countries such as the former Soviet Union, Japan, and the United States would reduce sugar ...

Baihe Zhimu Decoction ameliorates anxious depression via PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway‐mediated neuroprotection and inhibition of hippocampal neuronal apoptosis

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Baihe Zhimu Decoction alleviates anxious depression‐like behaviors and protects hippocampal neurons. Chemical profiling and network pharmacology reveal multiple active components acting via the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway, enhancing neuronal survival and function, as confirmed by multi‐level in vitro and in vivo validation.
