Zwicky Transient Facility and Globular Clusters: The gr-band Period–Luminosity Relations for Mira Variables at Maximum Light and their Applications to Local Galaxies

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal, 2023
Based on 14 Miras located in seven globular clusters, we derived the first gr -band period–luminosity (PL) at maximum light for the large-amplitude Mira variables using the multiyear light-curve data collected from the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF ...

The Promise of Solid Lubricants for a Sustainable Future

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Lubricants are vital for technology, saving energy and resources. The industry seeks sustainable solutions beyond fossil fuels. Solid lubricants offer extremely low friction and reduce environmental impact, especially in harsh conditions. Can these solids truly replace liquid lubricants, or are they limited to extreme applications?

Electrically Tunable Friction: From Sticky to Slippery with Ionic Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates electrically tunable friction “from sticky to slippery” using ionic hydrogels, achieving reversible more‐than‐fifty‐fold modulation without liquid lubricants. An electric field extracts a salt‐rich interfacial layer that dramatically reduces friction.

The TANDEM Project as a Pilot Case for Wide-field Telescope Arrays

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
We give here an account of the Telescope Array eNabling DEbris Monitoring (TANDEM) project, an innovative concept aimed at flanking, on a shared piggyback mount, the main G. D.

Weak Spatial Target Extraction Based on Small-Field Optical System

open access: yesSensors, 2023
Compared to wide-field telescopes, small-field detection systems have higher spatial resolution, resulting in stronger detection capabilities and higher positioning accuracy.

Commissioning and First Observations with Wide FastCam at the Telescopio Carlos S\'anchez [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The FastCam instrument platform, jointly developed by the IAC and the UPCT, allows, in real-time, acquisition, selection and storage of images with a resolution that reaches the diffraction limit of medium-sized telescopes.

Wide Field X-ray Telescope: a moderate class mission [PDF]

open access: yesSPIE Proceedings, 2010
Sensitive surveys of the X-ray universe have been limited to small areas of the sky due to the intrinsically small field of view of Wolter-I X-ray optics, whose angular resolution degrades with the square of the off axis angle. High angular resolution is needed to achieve a low background per source, minimize source confusion, and distinguish point ...

Perspective on Aqueous Batteries: Historical Milestones and Modern Revival

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review retraces the development of aqueous batteries from classical Zn‐MnO2 chemistry to modern Zn and Ni systems, correlating voltage, capacity, and electrolyte formulation with practical performance. By mapping historical success and failure onto current and future research directions, it identifies guiding principles that steer the design of ...
