Wind-Induced Response Analysis and Fatigue Life Prediction of a Hybrid Wind Turbine Tower Combining an Upper Steel Tube with a Lower Steel Truss

open access: yesBuildings
Based on the WindPACT-3MW wind turbine tower commonly used in wind power engineering, a finite element model (FEM) of a hybrid wind turbine tower combining an upper steel tube with a lower steel truss is designed and established.

The fundamental human response to wind-induced building motion

open access: yes, 2017
This paper identifies seven areas where an increase in our fundamental understanding of the human response to building motion will facilitate the design of next-generation serviceability criteria for wind-induced building motion.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Wind-Induced Response and Fatigue Analysis of Corona Ring in Power Equipment

open access: yesApplied Sciences
With the increasingly significant impact of high-wind-load environments on power equipment, the wind stability of the corona ring has become a key issue to ensure the safe operation of power grids.

Aerodynamics of wind turbines

open access: yes, 2011
PhDThe study of rotor blade aerodynamic performances of wind tur- bine has been presented in this thesis. This study was focused on aero- dynamic effects changed by blade surface distribution as well as grid solution along the airfoil.

Reconnection in a rotation-dominated magnetosphere and its relation to Saturn's auroral dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
peer reviewed[1] The first extended series of observations of Saturn's auroral emissions, undertaken by the Hubble Space Telescope in January 2004 in conjunction with measurements of the upstream solar wind and interplanetary magnetic field ( IMF) by the

Proteasome inhibitor, ixazomib prevents topoisomerase‐I degradation and reverses irinotecan resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ixazomib inhibits proteasome‐mediated degradation of topoisomerase I induced by irinotecan, thereby restoring drug sensitivity and promoting tumor cell death in colorectal cancer. Irinotecan, a topoisomerase I (topoI) inhibitor, is widely used for colorectal cancer, but resistance remains a major clinical challenge.

Dynamic response of temporary structures due to wind loading

open access: yes, 2015
Due to the lack of an international standard for the design of temporary stage structures, there have been several instances where temporary stage structures have failed and resulted in injury or death during strong wind events (Tomasetti, 2012).
