miRNA‐29 regulates epidermal and mesenchymal functions in skin repair

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
miRNA‐29 inhibits cell‐to‐cell and cell‐to‐matrix adhesion by silencing mRNA targets. Adhesion is controlled by complex interactions between many types of molecules coded by mRNAs. This is crucial for keeping together the layers of the skin and for regenerating the skin after wounding.

The Commonality of Earthquake and Wind Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
Earthquakes and wind loadings constitute dynamic effects that often must be considered in the design of buildings and structures. The primary purpose of this research study was to investigate the common features of general dynamic analysis procedures ...

Brucella NyxA and NyxB dimerization enhances effector function during infection

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Brucella abortus thrives inside cells thanks to the translocation of effector proteins that fine‐tune cellular functions. NyxA and NyxB are two effectors that destabilize the nucleolar localization of their host target, SENP3. We show that the Nyx proteins directly interact with each other and that their dimerization is essential for their function ...

Optimal Intelligent Control for Wind Turbulence Rejection in WECS Using ANNs and Genetic Fuzzy Approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
One of the disadvantages in Connection of wind energy conversion systems (WECSs) to transmission networks is plentiful turbulence of wind speed. Therefore effects of this problem must be controlled. Nowadays, pitch-controlled WECSs are increasingly used for variable speed and pitch wind turbines.

The carboxylate “gripper” of the substrate is critical for C‐4 stereo‐inversion by UDP‐glucuronic acid 4‐epimerase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
UDP‐glucuronic acid 4‐epimerase (UGAepi) catalyzes NAD+‐dependent interconversion of UDP‐glucuronic acid (UDP‐GlcA) and UDP‐galacturonic acid (UDP‐GalA) via C4‐oxidation, 4‐keto‐intermediate rotation, and C4‐reduction. Here, Borg et al. examined the role of the substrate's carboxylate group in the enzymic mechanism by analyzing NADH‐dependent reduction

Ultra-short-term multi-step wind speed prediction for wind farms based on adaptive noise reduction technology and temporal convolutional network [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
As an important clean and renewable kind of energy, wind power plays an important role in coping with energy crisis and environmental pollution. However, the volatility and intermittency of wind speed restrict the development of wind power. To improve the utilization of wind power, this study proposes a new wind speed prediction model based on data ...

Two-Way Feedback Interaction between the Thermohaline and Wind-Driven Circulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The thermohaline circulation (THC) affects the meridional atmospheric temperature gradient and therefore the atmospheric wind and the wind-driven ocean circulation.

Circulating tumor cells: advancing personalized therapy in small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is an aggressive form of lung cancer that spreads rapidly to secondary sites such as the brain and liver. Cancer cells circulating in the blood, “circulating tumor cells” (CTCs), have demonstrated prognostic value in SCLC, and evaluating biomarkers on CTCs could guide treatment decisions such as for PARP inhibitors ...

Flow characteristics over NACA4412 airfoil at low Reynolds number

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2016
In this study, the flow phenomena over NACA4412 were experimentally observed at various angle of attack and Reynolds number of 25000, 50000 and 75000, respectively.
