Wind farm and environmental aerodynamics assessment using computational engineering [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The aim of this thesis is the application of computational engineering software for the study of wind resource assessment of a wind farm as well as for establishing the range of influence of different numerical and physical parameters, including ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Pedestrian level wind environment around isolated buildings resulted from twisted wind profiles

open access: yes, 2015
The pedestrian-level wind environment influenced by twisted wind profiles were evaluated through a series of wind tunnel tests. In the tests, more than 200 Irwin sensors were installed to measure the wind speeds at pedestrian level around five isolated ...

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Dynamic response of temporary structures due to wind loading

open access: yes, 2015
Due to the lack of an international standard for the design of temporary stage structures, there have been several instances where temporary stage structures have failed and resulted in injury or death during strong wind events (Tomasetti, 2012).

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Motion-induced wind forces of a slender prism

open access: yes, 2017
The motion-induced wind forces of a slender prism were investigated using a forced vibration technique. The prism was driven to oscillate by an actuator in cross-wind direction and the unsteady distributed pressures, under different wind velocities and ...

Factors influencing wind energy curtailment

open access: yes, 2011
Nonphysically firm wind generation connections (i.e., those to which curtailment can apply) may be necessary for significant wind integration to congested transmission networks.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Integrated Aerodynamic–Structural Validation Framework for Wind-Induced Load Assessment

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Understanding wind–structure interaction (WSI) in low-rise buildings remains a significant challenge in wind and structural engineering, particularly under highly turbulent and non-stationary wind phenomena such as downbursts and tornado-like vortices ...
