Influence Mechanism of a Bridge Wind Barrier on the Stability of a Van-Body Truck under Crosswind

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2022
Understanding the crosswind stability of cars under strong wind loads and research on wind resistance methods is important for improving the safety performance of wind-induced driving on bridges.

Homogenization of Foil Windings with Globally Supported Polynomial Shape Functions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
In conventional finite element simulations, foil windings with thin foils and with a large number of turns require many mesh elements. This renders models quickly computationally infeasible. This paper uses a homogenized foil winding model and approximates the voltage distribution in the foil winding domain by globally supported polynomials.

Station-keeping control of an unmanned surface vehicle exposed to current and wind disturbances [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Ocean Engineering, Volume 127, Pages 305-324, 2016, 2017
Field trials of a 4 meter long, 180 kilogram, unmanned surface vehicle (USV) have been conducted to evaluate the performance of station-keeping heading and position controllers in an outdoor marine environment disturbed by wind and current. The USV has a twin hull configuration and a custom-designed propulsion system, which consists of two azimuthing ...

Cell‐free and extracellular vesicle microRNAs with clinical utility for solid tumors

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cell‐free microRNAs (cfmiRs) are small‐RNA circulating molecules detectable in almost all body biofluids. Innovative technologies have improved the application of cfmiRs to oncology, with a focus on clinical needs for different solid tumors, but with emphasis on diagnosis, prognosis, cancer recurrence, as well as treatment monitoring.

Transferability of Operational Status Classification Models Among Different Wind Turbine Typesq [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
A detailed understanding of wind turbine performance status classification can improve operations and maintenance in the wind energy industry. Due to different engineering properties of wind turbines, the standard supervised learning models used for classification do not generalize across data sets obtained from different wind sites.

Dynamics of line-driven disk winds in Active Galactic Nuclei [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophys.J.543:686-696,2000, 2000
We present the results of time-dependent hydrodynamic calculations of line- driven winds from accretion disks in AGN. To calculate the radiation force, we take into account radiation from the disk and the central engine. The gas temperature and ionization state in the wind are calculated self-consistently. We find that a disk accreting onto a 10^8 MSUN

Cellular liquid biopsy provides unique chances for disease monitoring, preclinical model generation and therapy adjustment in rare salivary gland cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We quantified and cultured circulating tumor cells (CTCs) of 62 patients with various cancer types and generated CTC‐derived tumoroid models from two salivary gland cancer patients. Cellular liquid biopsy‐derived information enabled molecular genetic assessment of systemic disease heterogeneity and functional testing for therapy selection in both ...

Effect of tip vortices on flow over NACA4412 aerofoil with different aspect ratios

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2016
Effect of tip vortices on flow and laminar separation bubble over NACA4412 aerofoil at low Reynolds numbers and different angles of attack was investigated in detail by performing force and flow visualization via smoke wire technique.
