Uptake and agronomic efficiency of nitrogen in winter barley and winter wheat

European Journal of Agronomy, 1998
Abstract Nitrogen (N) uptake and utilization efficiency ( N UtE ) of the high-yielding cultivars `Gemini' of wheat and `Jaidor' of barley were tested with N rates of 0, 140 and 210 kg ha −1 and 0, 80 and 140 kg ha −1 , respectively. The different grain yield response was linked to their difference in nitrogen uptake and utilization efficiency.

Dynamic phenological model for winter rye and winter barley

European Journal of Agronomy, 2005
Abstract A detailed dynamic crop stand phenological model is presented for winter barley and winter rye. The modelled phenological stages are described in different scale units (FEEKES [1–20], BBCH [1–100] and DC [1–100]) and a differentiation in mathematical approaches and in parameterisation is made between the germination, the vegetative and the ...

OAC Elmira winter barley

Canadian Journal of Plant Science, 1997
OAC Elmira is a high-yielding, disease-resistant, hardy winter barley adapted to Southern Ontario. OAC Elmira has good winter hardiness and high hectoliter weight. It has better disease resistance than any of the check cultivars and long straw with a lax, nodding head.

Registration of ‘Endeavor’ Winter Barley

Journal of Plant Registrations, 2009
‘Endeavor’ (Reg. No. CV‐341, PI 654824), a two‐rowed winter malting barley (Hordeum vulgare L.), was developed and submitted for release in 2007 by the USDA–ARS, Aberdeen, ID, in cooperation with the University of Idaho Agricultural Experiment Station. Endeavor is a selection from the cross ORWM8406/‘Harrington’.

Response of winter barley to liming

Novenytermeles, 2014
The field experiment with increasing rates (0, 5, 10, 20 and 40 t ha-1) of fertdolomite (24.0 % CaO, 16.0 % MgO, 3.0 % N, 2.5 % P2O5 and 3.0 % K2O) was conducted in the autumn of 2008 in Badljevina (Pozega-Slavonian County). The experiment was conducted in the randomized block design in four replicates and basic plot size was 37.5 m2. Acid reaction (pH

Winter barley breeding in the Netherlands

Euphytica, 1956
Various Dutch breeders have devoted themselves to winter barley breeding; the local variety “Groningen Winter Barley” used always to be the foundation material for breeding work. In the course of years 8 new varieties have been derived from it by line selection which demonstrates clearly the degree of variation.

COLD HARDENING AND DEHARDENING RESPONSES IN WINTER WHEAT AND WINTER BARLEY

Canadian Journal of Plant Science, 1975
Increasing the duration of freezing of Kharkov winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) demonstrated that severe injury does not occur to plants at a freezing temperature (−6 C) well above the lethal temperature for at least 5 days, but progressively more damage occurs as the temperature approaches the killing point (−20 C).
