Abstract A theory of wire drawing is presented in which the force required to produce plastic deformation of a wire passing through a die may be determined. The calculations are based upon information obtained from an ordinary tension test of the material to be drawn.

Micro Wire-Drawing: Experiments And Modelling
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2007In the paper, the authors propose to adopt the micro wire‐drawing as a key for investigating models of micro forming processes. The reasons of this choice arose in the fact that this process can be considered a quasi‐stationary process where tribological conditions at the interface between the material and the die can be assumed to be constant during ...

Wire drawing process simulation of Polycrystalline diamond wire drawing die
2012 IEEE International Conference on Computer Science and Automation Engineering (CSAE), 2012The wire drawing process of Polycrystalline diamond (PCD) wire drawing die is simulated by ABAQUS FEA software, which is used in drawing solar wafer cutting wire. According to the requirements of structure and sizes of shaper hole in the actual production, the wire drawing die whose reduction angle is 8 degrees is used in this simulation firstly.

For the drawing of wire there are four types of media which are used as lubricants; water emul‐sions, solids (soaps), non‐aqueous fluids and “pigemented” vehicles. Emulsions and some soaps, such as the alkali soaps, rely, in part, on the forma‐tion of an interfacial film of metallic soap which gives a film of reasonably high viscosity.

THE FUNDAMENTALS OF WIRE DRAWING
International Materials Reviews, 1958AbstractWire drawing has been evolved through experience rather than by the application of scientific principles. Of late, however, the analytical approach has come to play a significant part in its further development, with attainments which merit presentation in their own right.
