Micro Wire-Drawing: Experiments And Modelling

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2007
In the paper, the authors propose to adopt the micro wire‐drawing as a key for investigating models of micro forming processes. The reasons of this choice arose in the fact that this process can be considered a quasi‐stationary process where tribological conditions at the interface between the material and the die can be assumed to be constant during ...

Computer-Aided Wire Drawing

CIRP Annals, 1991
Summary Current studies on mechanics of cold wire Drawing provide a comprehensive picture of the effects of main parameters on he basic process. However at production floor level multipass Drawing still exhibits a number of tough problems. Scatter in wire properties, defects, lubricant decay, irregular die wear may affect product quality and upset ...

LUBRICATION IN WIRE DRAWING

Industrial Lubrication and Tribology, 1970
For the drawing of wire there are four types of media which are used as lubricants; water emul‐sions, solids (soaps), non‐aqueous fluids and “pigemented” vehicles. Emulsions and some soaps, such as the alkali soaps, rely, in part, on the forma‐tion of an interfacial film of metallic soap which gives a film of reasonably high viscosity.

Theory of Wire Drawing

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1944
Abstract A theory of wire drawing is presented in which the force required to produce plastic deformation of a wire passing through a die may be determined. The calculations are based upon information obtained from an ordinary tension test of the material to be drawn.

Drawing of square twisted wire

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 1996
Abstract The shape of the deformation zone during drawing of square twisted wires is described in this paper. The condition of the stable deformation of the wire is formulated. This condition is satisfied by the constant value of the pitch of the helical surface of the die.

Metalworking V: Wire Drawing

1979
Beryllium wire combines the lour density, high modulus of elasticity, high thermal conductivity, and high specific heat of beryllium with higher strength levels than are available in other mill forms.

Fast Material Working: Wire Drawing

2007
The theory of fast material forming starts with the application of the Bingham model to the metal forming. It started with wire drawing, with drawing of tubes either free or with a floating plug, or with a fixed plug. The extrusion of cylindrical bars at increased temperatures, with floating glass as a lubricant, was also considered.
