Endocardial Schwannomas in the Wistar Rat

Journal of Veterinary Medicine Series A, 2005
SummaryEndocardial neoplasms were observed in 13 Wistar rats, 15–30 months old, from a 30‐month inhalation study. Eight of the rats were dissected at 30 months and the other five between 15 and 29 months. Histologically, the lesions in the heart were diagnosed as endocardial schwannomas.

Spontaneous Immunoglomerulonephritis in Wistar Rats

Pathology - Research and Practice, 1980
A strain of rats bred at the Nuclear Study Center of Mol (C.E.N.) develops a nephropathy characterized by granular deposition of immunoglobulin and complement in the renal glomeruli and tubules. We have attempted to specify the complement activation pathways (classical or alternate) in this disease by looking for their initial components (C1q, C3 and ...

METABOLISM OF MYOSMINE IN WISTAR RATS

Drug Metabolism and Disposition, 2005
The alkaloid myosmine is present not only in tobacco products but also in various foods. Myosmine is easily nitrosated, yielding 4-hydroxy-1-(3-pyridyl)-1-butanone (HPB) and the esophageal tobacco carcinogen N'-nitrosonornicotine. Due to its widespread occurrence, investigations on the metabolism and activation of myosmine are needed for risk ...

Differential Sensitivity to Morphine in Spontaneously Hypertensive and Normotensive Wistar-Kyoto and Wistar Rats

Clinical and Experimental Hypertension. Part A: Theory and Practice, 1987
In spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) a diminished responsiveness for nociceptive stimuli is present, which might be associated with alterations in endogenous opioid peptide and receptor systems. In SHR, normotensive Wistar-Kyoto controls (WKY) and in Wistar rats the effects of acute morphine administration on pain sensitivity and body temperature ...

Investigatory behavior of a novel conspecific by Wistar Kyoto, Wistar and Sprague-Dawley rats

Brain Research Bulletin, 2000
The assumption was made that investigatory behaviors (i.e., ano-genital and general body sniffing) of a female conspecific by a mature male rat, has positive hedonic characteristics. Because reduced interest in pleasurable events (i.e., anhedonia) is diagnostically related to depressive behavior, the hypothesis was advanced that less investigatory ...
