Abstract BACKGROUND Landfill gas (LFG) and leachate are commonly treated separately through energy‐intensive processes. This study evaluated the integration of both streams in an anaerobic biotrickling filter (BTF) to achieve simultaneous methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2) removal coupled with ammonium (NH4+) transformation, and how the microbial ...

Formate Formation and Formate Conversion in Biological Fuels Production
Biomethanation is a mature technology for fuel production. Fourth generation biofuels research will focus on sequestering CO2 and providing carbon-neutral or carbon-negative strategies to cope with dwindling fossil fuel supplies and environmental impact.

Network analysis of functional genes among prokaryotes, and eukaryotes in natural and artificial rivers. Abstract Periphyton in aquatic ecosystems plays vital roles in the elemental cycle process and is vulnerable to anthropogenic interference. However, few studies have explored the elemental cycles of carbon (C), nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and ...

An archaeal origin of the Wood-Ljungdahl H4MPT branch and the emergence of bacterial methylotrophy
International audienceThe tetrahydromethanopterin (H 4 MPT) methyl branch of the Wood-Ljungdahl pathway is shared by archaeal and bacterial metabolisms that greatly contribute to the global carbon budget and greenhouse gas fluxes: methanogenesis and ...

Epigenetic Perspectives on Maternal Gut Microbiota's Impact on Embryonic and Fetal Development
This review summarizes how maternal health and nutrition shape gut microbiota via epigenetics to regulate embryonic development. It highlights microbiota‐embryo interactions, disruption by prenatal chemical exposures, and personalized nutrition for disease prevention, offering novel insights and therapeutic targets.

Abstract The deep continental subsurface hosts a large, diverse, and poorly characterized microbiome. The geochemistry and microbiology of deep subsurface sites are closely linked and influenced by geological, hydrological, and anthropogenic factors. The Deep Mine Microbial Observatory (DeMMO; Lead, SD) was established in 2015 to provide stable portals

The complete genome sequence of Moorella thermoacetica (f. Clostridium thermoaceticum ) [PDF]
This paper describes the genome sequence of Moorella thermoacetica (f. Clostridium thermoaceticum ), which is the model acetogenic bacterium that has been widely used for elucidating the Wood–Ljungdahl pathway of CO and CO 2 fixation. This pathway, which
