The objective of this research is to study the effect of a convectif traditional drying on eucalyptus wood of the reafforestations of Sidi Yahia (West of Morocco). The obtained results show that the measurement of the bow of facing indicates that a drying under load, preceded by a reconditioning and followed by balancing, makes it possible to recover ...

In order to predict the rate at which moisture leaves a rough-sawn board, the drying kinetics of the lumber need to be considered. The drying of wood involves the movement of water molecules, either as vapour or liquid (fluids), through a complex biological structure, with changes in phase such as thawing and evaporation.

Wood is continually exchanging moisture and this phenomenon is observed not only for living trees but also for pieces of wood in use, whatever the surrounding atmosphere. This surrounding atmosphere can be air or water, and in all these cases, the problem of drying the pieces of wood is of interest.

ABSTRACT Vacuum drying, j,e drying under absolute gas pressure of about 10⊃ Pa. is an efficient means of reducing the process period and of producing good quality wood. We will examine here continuous vacuum drying where the plank surfaces are kept at a constant temperature, which remains above the boiling point, and moisture flowing to the surface is ...

Wood preparation, storage, and drying
Biomass and Bioenergy, 1992Abstract The research cooperation in this activity has shown a fundamentally different attitude between the participating scientists in the scientific line of procedure considered. One group proceeds pragmatically. The group has the opinion that drying progress in big chip stacks is determined by so many intercorrelated factors that it is ...

Wood Preservative Efficacy Against Dry Wood Insects
1988The mode of action of different insecticides and the correlation between their thresholds and the commercial formulations in which they are used are considered in the light of laboratory test results. Though a parallel can be drawn between these toxic values and commercial formulations with preventive action, the same relation is not found with ...

DRYING WOOD: A REVIEW - PART II
Drying Technology, 1983ABSTRACT This paper reviews the technology of wood drying and recent developments in the field. The importance of drying is reviewed first. Then the fundamentals of wood properties as they relate to drying are discussed, including how water is held in wood, how it moves through wood, and how drying stresses that lead to drying defects develop ...

Drying wood requires a significant amount of thermal energy, in order to heat-up wood and evaporate the water inside it. Therefore, solutions to minimize this consumption are a topic of maximum interest for wood-processing industries. Employing solar power for drying wood is not a novelty, considering that this possibility was already acknowledged at ...
