Marination and cooking performance of portioned broiler breast fillets with the wooden breast condition

open access: yesPoultry Science, 2018
The wooden breast (WB) condition in broiler breast meat negatively influences technological meat quality. However, it is unknown if the WB effects are uniform throughout the Pectoralis major. The objective of this study was to determine the effects of WB on the marination and cooking performance of the dorsal and ventral portions of broiler breast ...

Evaluation of Increasing Concentrations of Supplemental Choline Chloride on Modern Broiler Chicken Growth Performance and Carcass Characteristics

open access: yesAnimals, 2023
Choline has been demonstrated to partially substitute methionine in broiler chicken diets due to their interconnected biosynthesis pathways. Yet, research on the impacts of dietary choline supplementation on modern strains of high-yielding broilers is ...

Grading of Wooden Chicken Breast Based on Multi-source Information Fusion and Machine Learning [PDF]

open access: yesShipin Kexue
This study aimed to address the growing prevalence of wooden breast (WB) in fast-growing broilers and the limitations of conventional detection methods, which are often subjective and lack precision in grading. Normal breast (NB), mild wooden breast (LWB)

Effects of Guanidinoacetic Acid Supplementation on Productive Performance, Pectoral Myopathies, and Meat Quality of Broiler Chickens

open access: yesAnimals, 2021
The effects of guanidinoacteic acid (GAA) supplementation on productive performance, pectoral myopathies, and meat quality of broilers were studied. Treatments consisted of corn/soybean-based diets with a GAA supplement (0%, 0.06%, and 0.12%). A total of

ANKS1B in the Nucleus Accumbens Controls Escalated Cocaine Self‐Administration via Regulating CBP‐FoxO3 Complex

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ANKS1B in the nucleus accumbens plays a critical role in the transition from controlled to escalated cocaine intake. Mechanistically, ANKS1B interacts with CBP to epigenetically suppress FoxO3 through H3K27 acetylation. The ANKS1B‐CBP‐FoxO3 signaling cascade presents a novel theraputic target for the treatment of cocaine addiction.

Dietary supplementation with sodium butyrate: growth, gut response at different ages, and meat quality of female and male broiler chickens

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science, 2020
The present study aimed to evaluate how dietary supplementation with a microencapsulated sodium butyrate (500 mg/kg; 30% Na-butyrate) in 768 male and female broiler chickens affected growth performance, jejunum gut morphology and caecal microbiome at ...

Progressive in vivo detection of wooden breast in broilers as affected by dietary energy and protein

open access: yesPoultry Science, 2021
Wooden breast (WB) myopathy was investigated in broilers fed varying energy and protein at early ages. Correlation analyses were conducted between echogenicity of ultrasound images (US) of breast muscle from live birds and WB after slaughter.
