WorldView-2 bathymetric capabilities

SPIE Proceedings, 2012
The capability of the WorldView-2 (WV02) satellite is analyzed for bathymetric applications in shallow coastal waters. We use an Optimal Estimation method, which provides lower bounds on retrievals errors for an idealized sensor and idealized model of the environment.

Unsupervised extraction of greenhouses using WorldView-2 images

2014 IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2014
Greenhouses provide controlled areas to produce high-quality and wide variety of agricultural products. However, their monitoring and mapping are essential in many aspects such as yield estimation, sustainable crop production, residue management and environmental impact.

WorldView-2 and the evolution of the DigitalGlobe remote sensing satellite constellation: introductory paper for the special session on WorldView-2

SPIE Proceedings, 2012
Over the last decade DigitalGlobe (DG) has built and launched a series of remote sensing satellites with steadily increasing capabilities: QuickBird, WorldView-1 (WV-1), and WorldView-2 (WV-2). Today, this constellation acquires over 2.5 million km2 of imagery on a daily basis.

Spectral classification of WorldView-2 multi-angle sequence

2011 Joint Urban Remote Sensing Event, 2011
In this study, we investigate the ability of the spectral data from a multi-angle WorldView-2 image sequence to improve classification accuracy of an urban scene. Specifically, we investigate the multi-angle reflectance, as well as two data extraction methods applied to the reflectance data, developed from thirteen images collected over downtown ...

WorldView-2 data simulation and analysis results

SPIE Proceedings, 2009
The WorldView-2 sensor, to be launched mid-2009, will have 8 MSI bands - 4 standard MSI spectral channels and an additional 4 non-traditional bands. Hyperspectral data from the AURORA sensor (from the former Advanced Power Technologies, Inc. (APTI)) was used to simulate the spectral response of the WorldView-2 Sensor and DigitalGlobe's 4- band ...

Enhancement and Application of WorldView-2 to Geological Interpretation

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
By comparing WorlView-2 with other remote sensing data in the characteristics of spectral bands and spatial resolution, we found that all the eight bands of WorldView-2 are sensitive to lithology and helpful to distinguish them; besides, WorldView-2 provides a richer texture information with a high spatial resolution of 0.46m, which is also very ...

Fast extraction of plastic greenhouses using Worldview-2 images

2016 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2016
By providing controlled areas to produce high quality and wide variety of agricultural products, greenhouses are important for rural development. Their monitoring hence is required for yield estimation and residue management as well as environmental impact.

Object-based analysis of WorldView-2 imagery of urban areas

2012 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2012
In recent years, remote sensing has become an increasing data source to support urban planning and management due to availability of very high resolution (VHR) images having resolution of less than 0.5 m. Such images allow extracting of detailed information of various targets of urban areas with the help of object-based image analysis (OBIA) in ...
