EUREKA study - The evaluation of real-life use of a biophotonic system in chronic wound management: An interim analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Objective: Interest has grown regarding photobiomodulation (PBM) with low-level light therapy, which has been shown to positively affect the stages of the wound healing process.

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

Guselkumab for hidradenitis suppurativa in a patient with concomitant Crohn’s disease: Report and systematic literature review of effectiveness and safety

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, 2020
Guselkumab appears to be safe and effective in the treatment of patients with HS, who do not respond to adalimumab and other systemic therapies. Guselkumab can be used in patients with comorbid Crohn's disease.

A survey of nurses' and podiatrists' attitudes, skills and knowledge of lower extremity wound care [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Published literature has identified deficits in the wound care knowledge of many healthcare professionals involved in tissue viability, which may suggest some patients are receiving suboptimal care.

3D hybrid wound devices for spatiotemporally controlled release kinetics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper presents localized and temporal control of releasekinetics over 3-dimensional (3D) hybridwounddevices to improve wound-healing process. Imaging study is performed to extract wound bed geometry in 3D.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Fatal outcome of malignant transformation of hidradenitis suppurativa: A case report and literature review

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, 2020
Squamous cell carcinoma arising in hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a rare albeit the most serious complication in HS, with a reported fatality of up to 42.9%. This calls for greater clinical awareness in patients with long‐standing chronic HS.

Exploring Resilience When Living with a Wound — An Integrative Literature Review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The psychological impact for patients with wounds can be significant, and adverse psychological effects frequently occur when there are permanent changes in the body’s structure or function.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...
