Simulating the XANES of metalloenzymes – a case study
The analysis of XANES patterns is very indicative for screening samples. Powerful X-ray absorption spectroscopy data-analysis programs can simulate these patterns. Here, a case study on two structural motifs is presented: a non-heme Fe site (2-His-1-carboxylate motif) and the metallo β-lactamase dinuclear Zn site.

A Rebirth of Laboratory XANES and XES [PDF]
We have recently launched a reinvestigation of laboratory-based measurement of x-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) and high-resolution x-ray emission spectroscopy (XES). Driven by the roughly one-hundred-fold improvement in the efficiency of high resolution x-ray optics compared to the 1970's, we have demonstrated that surprisingly impressive ...

Transition metal oxy/carbo‐nitrides show great promise as catalysts for sustainable processes. A Mn‐Mo mixed‐metal oxynitride attains remarkable performance for the direct synthesis of acetonitrile, an important commodity chemical, via sequential C─N and C─C coupling from syngas (C1) and ammonia (N1) feedstocks.

Understanding electronic structure of Bi(Pb)-Sr-Ca-Cu-O compounds by XANES
We report X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) of Cu and O K-edges of superconducting [Bi(Pb)]2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ (Bi-2212) and [Bi(Pb)]2Sr2Ca2Cu3O10+δ (Bi-2223) compounds.

Ball‐milling Cu‐based metallic glasses with ceria creates a unique nanostructure where metallic glass particles are wrapped by CeO2 nanoparticles. The intimate integration triggers copper state reorganization during reaction and aging, boosting CO oxidation and COPrOx activity.

XANES spectra of transition metal compounds
An overview is given of the interactions that determine the XANES spectral shapes of transition metal compounds. The interactions are divided into ground state effects, final state effects and transition effects.

Web-CONEXS: an inroad to theoretical X-ray absorption spectroscopy
Accurate analysis of the rich information contained within X-ray spectra usually calls for detailed electronic structure theory simulations. However, density functional theory (DFT), time-dependent DFT and many-body perturbation theory calculations ...

Local Structure and Magnetism of LiFeSi0.01P0.99O4/C as a Cathode Material on Lithium-Ion Battery
The oxidation state and local structure of LiFeSi0.01P0.99O4/C composites as a cathode on lithium-ion battery were investigated by Fe K-edge X-ray Absorption Near Edge Spectroscopy (XANES) and Extended X-ray Absorption Fine Structure (EXAFS). The LiFeSi0.
