Xanthine oxidase inhibitors and sepsis [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Immunopathology and Pharmacology, 2018
Xanthine oxidase activation occurs in sepsis and results in the generation of uric acid (UrAc) and reactive oxygen species (ROS). We aimed to evaluate the effect of xanthine oxidase inhibitors (XOis) in rats stimulated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS). LPS (10 mg/kg) was administered intraperitoneally (i.p.) immediately after allopurinol (Alo, 2 mg/kg) or

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

PENGHAMBATAN AKTIVITAS XANTHINE OXIDASE OLEH EKSTRAK ETANOL SARANG SEMUT (Myrmecodia tuberosa (non Jack) Bl.) SECARA IN VITRO

open access: yesPharmaciana, 2014
Uric acid is the end product of purine metabolism that can settle in the joints and form small crystals, causing inflammation known as gout. Gout is a disease caused by high levels of uric acid in the blood (hyperuricemia).

The species distribution of xanthine oxidase [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical Journal, 1965
1. The distribution of xanthine oxidase in blood and tissues of various animals was studied by means of a radioactive assay capable of detecting 10(-7) unit of enzyme. The method was shown to be applicable to tissues with a high uricase content. 2. Of 16 mammalian species examined, six had low concentrations of xanthine oxidase in the serum. In six non-

Dual‐Responsive Dynamic Covalent Bond‐Based Assembly of Lipid‐Nanozyme Systems via Multi‐Target Synergy and Efficient Target Enrichment for Ischemic Stroke Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This system adopts a biomimetic phospholipid structure, covalently binding iNOS inhibitors, neuroprotective agent PCA and vitamin E derivatives through pH/ROS dual‐responsive bonds, and assembles them with Prussian blue nanozyme to form PBB@AHA. It can efficiently penetrate the blood‐brain barrier and simultaneously release multiple active components ...

In silico design and synthesis of hesperitin derivatives as new xanthine oxidase inhibitors

open access: yesBMC Chemistry, 2019
Background Hesperitin, a naturally occurring flavonoid was hybridized with phenolic acids to evaluate its potential to inhibit the activity of xanthine oxidase (XO), a key enzyme which catalyses xanthine to uric acid which is found to be associated with ...
