Hole-doping-induced changes in the electronic structure of La$_{1-x}$Sr$_x$FeO$_3$ : soft x-ray photoemission and absorption study of epitaxial thin films

open access: yes, 2004
We have studied the electronic structure of epitaxially grown thin films of La$_{1-x}$Sr$_x$FeO$_3$ by {\it in-situ} photoemission spectroscopy (PES) and x-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) measurements. The Fe 2$p$ and valence-band PES spectra and the O

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

Mouse livers machine learning identification based on hyperspectral x-ray computed tomography reconstructed x-ray absorption spectra

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2020
X-ray computed tomography (X-CT) is often used to examine organs, but the reconstructed images can only be used for structural identification. Whether the organs are healthy or not requires a professional doctor to examine the reconstructed image and ...

Orbitally driven spin-singlet dimerization in $S$=1 La$_{4}$Ru$_{2}$O$_{10}$ [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Using x-ray absorption spectroscopy at the Ru-$L_{2,3}$ edge we reveal that the Ru$^{4+}$ ions remain in the $S$=1 spin state across the rare 4d-orbital ordering transition and spin-gap formation.

2D Co‐Mo‐Hydroxide‐Based Multifunctional Material for the Development of H2‐Based Clean Energy Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
2D α‐Co(OH)2 interleaved with Mo species displays an appealing dual functionality for the production and use of green hydrogen.Mo incorporation greatly benefits the electrochemical behaviour in Oxygen Evolution Reaction for H2 production, while the magnetocaloric response at liquid H2 temperature paves the way for alternative cryogenic refrigerants ...

Irreversible proliferation of magnetic moments at cleaved surfaces of the topological Kondo insulator SmB6

open access: yes, 2017
The compound SmB$_6$ is the best established realization of a topological Kondo insulator, in which a topological insulator state is obtained through Kondo coherence.

Iron porphyrin molecules on Cu(001): Influence of adlayers and ligands on the magnetic properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The structural and magnetic properties of Fe octaethylporphyrin (OEP) molecules on Cu(001) have been investigated by means of density functional theory (DFT) methods and X-ray absorption spectroscopy.

In Situ Amine Formation to Modulate MOF‐Derived PdIn N‐Doped Carbon Catalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An amine‐assisted approach converts PdIn‐MOF into PdIn intermetallic nanoparticles embedded in N‐doped carbon. In situ‐generated amines trigger early Pd nucleation, producing smaller PdIn domains than direct pyrolysis. Amine sterics and basicity tune composition and particle size, while solvent and amine co‐determine textural features.

Denoising framework for X-ray absorption spectroscopy data

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation
X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) is a powerful tool for probing the structural and electronic properties of materials, but its analysis is often challenging due to the low signal-to-noise ratio of the XAS spectra.
