Renal Cell Carcinoma Associated with Xp11.2 Translocation/TFE3 Gene Fusion: A Rare Case Report with Review of the Literature

open access: yesCase Reports in Urology, 2013
Introduction. The recently recognized renal cell carcinomas associated with Xp11.2 translocations are rare tumors predominantly reported in children. Chromosome Xp11.2 translocation results in gene fusion related to transcription factor E3 (TFE3) that ...

The preliminary experiences of translocation renal cell carcinoma and literature review

open access: yesKaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, 2014
Xp11.2 translocation renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is rare and predominantly found in children and young adults. Because of the property of overexpressed transcription factor E3 (TFE3) fusion protein, immunohistochemical (IHC) staining with TFE3 antibody ...

HIF1α Plays a Crucial Role in the Development of TFE3–Rearranged Renal Cell Carcinoma by Orchestrating a Metabolic Shift Toward Fatty Acid Synthesis

open access: yesGenes to Cells, Volume 30, Issue 1, January 2025.
This graphical abstract illustrates the key metabolic changes in TFE3–rearranged renal cell carcinoma (TFE3‐RCC). The PRCC‐TFE3 fusion protein upregulates HIF1α, leading to enhanced glycolysis and lipid synthesis through SREBP1 activation. This metabolic shift, characterized by increased glucose uptake, fatty acid synthesis, and reduced ketogenesis ...

TFE3‐rearranged nonmelanotic renal PEComa: a case series expanding their phenotypic and fusion landscape

open access: yesHistopathology, Volume 85, Issue 5, Page 783-793, November 2024.
TFE3‐rearranged renal PEComas display high cytomorphological diversity with clear, eosinophilic, or mixed cell types, but lack significant anaplasia and pleomorphism. Their phenotypic diversity is paralleled by the diversity of their TFE3 gene fusion partner landscape. Homogeneous and strong TFE3 expression is characteristic.

The potential value of cancer‐testis antigens in ovarian cancer: Prognostic markers and targets for immunotherapy

open access: yesImmunity, Inflammation and Disease, Volume 12, Issue 6, June 2024.
Cancer‐testis antigens (CTAs) exhibit carcinogenic potential and strong immunogenicity in ovarian cancer. This review outlines a comprehensive of overview the regulatory mechanism, immunogenicity, clinical expression significance, tumorigenesis, and application prospects of CTAs in ovarian cancer, all of which can provide novel insights in the ...

A nomogram based on TFE3 IHC results and clinical factors as a preliminary screening scheme for TFE3‐rearranged renal cell carcinoma

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 13, Issue 5, March 2024.
Abstract Background TFE3 immunohistochemistry (TFE3‐IHC) is controversial in the diagnosis of TFE3‐rearranged renal cell carcinoma (TFE3‐rearranged RCC). This study is to investigate the accuracy and sensitivity of IHC and establish a predictive model to diagnose TFE3‐rearranged RCC.

Targeted therapies in children with renal cell carcinoma (RCC): An International Society of Pediatric Oncology—Renal Tumor Study Group (SIOP‐RTSG)‐related retrospective descriptive study

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 13, Issue 1, January 2024.
This is the first SIOP‐RTSG retrospective study that reports response‐ and survival data of pediatric patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC) who were treated with targeted therapy. Thirty‐one patients with advanced‐stage RCC were treated with 17 different treatment regimens, highlighting current treatment heterogeneity.
