Single‐stage orthognathic correction of campylorrhinus lateralis in foals using transection and fixation: Surgical description and outcome of four horses

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Campylorrhinus lateralis (‘wry nose’) is a rare congenital maxillofacial deformity of foals resulting in compromise of the airway and severe class 4 malocclusion. Various surgical techniques to correct the deformity have been described, but contemporary data on single‐stage transection and fixation, including use of a rib graft, and

Recent Paradigms in Nanomaterial‐Assisted Electrochemical (Bio) Sensing for Food Quality and Safety Analysis: A Critical Review

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Rising global demand for safe and unadulterated foods has accelerated the need for rapid, low‐cost, and portable analytical technologies. Traditional laboratory methods, although accurate, are often labor‐intensive and unsuitable for decentralized, real‐time monitoring. In response, nanomaterial‐assisted electrochemical sensors have emerged as

Research progress on the depth of anesthesia monitoring based on the electroencephalogram

open access: yesIbrain, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 32-43, Spring 2025.
Electroencephalogram (EEG) can noninvasive, continuous, and real‐time monitor the state of brain electrical activity, and the monitoring of EEG can reflect changes in the depth of anesthesia (DOA). The development of artificial intelligence can enable anesthesiologists to extract, analyze, and quantify DOA from complex EEG data.

Providers’ knowledge and perception of xylazine in the unregulated drug supply: a sequential explanatory mixed-methods study

open access: yesHarm Reduction Journal
Background Xylazine is increasingly prevalent in the unregulated opioid supply in the United States. Exposure to this adulterant can lead to significant harm, including prolonged sedation and necrotic wounds.

Neuroprotective effect of normal and modified mesenchymal stem cell‐derived exosomes by mitigating Alzheimer's‐related oxidative and inflammatory damage via Nrf2/HO‐1 in SH‐SY5Y cells

open access: yesIbrain, EarlyView.
Exosome therapy shows promise in Alzheimer's disease. This study compared normal and modified exosomes from AD brain extract‐treated MSCs in STZ‐induced SH‐SY5Y cells. Exosomes improved neuronal viability, reduced oxidative stress and inflammation, and activated Nrf2/HO‐1 signaling.

Subchronic Exposure to Arsenic and Nickel Triggers Nitrosative Stress and Histological Alterations in the Rat Liver

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Environmental exposure to heavy metals poses a threat to human health. Several studies documented harmful effects on the liver after arsenic and nickel exposure at concentrations beyond permissible limits. Nevertheless, the impact of a simultaneous exposure to both elements on hepatic biochemistry and histology remains unelucidated. Therefore,

Safety Assessment and Hypoglycemic Effect of Moringa oleifera Lam. Seed Lectin (WSMoL) in Alloxan‐Induced Diabetic Mice

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Moringa oleifera Lam. seeds contain WSMoL, a lectin previously studied for toxicity and pharmacological effects. In this study, we investigated WSMoL (10, 25, or 50 mg/kg i.p.) for acute and 14‐day repeated‐dose toxicity, as well as genotoxicity, in Swiss mice.

Tannic Acid Mitigates Monosodium Glutamate‐Induced Cortical Damage by Modulating Synaptic and Calcium‐Related Gene and Protein Expression

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Neurotoxicity induced by excessive glutamatergic signaling is associated with synaptic dysfunction, calcium imbalance, and oxidative stress, which are key molecular events implicated in several neurodegenerative conditions. Monosodium glutamate (MSG), a common flavor enhancer, may exert neurotoxic effects, particularly on synaptic integrity ...
