Distribution, prevalence, and severity of damages caused by nematodes on yam (Dioscorea Rotundata) in Nigeria [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Nigeria is the main yam-growing country of the world. In the country, various plant-parasitic nematodes have been reported constraining yam production and the storability of tubers. This study established the damage level of nematodes on white yam tubers

Tree‐Ring Anatomy Improves the Reliability of Temperature Reconstructions Using Relict Wood

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 8, 28 April 2025.
Abstract Tree rings are crucial for reconstructing past climates, with maximum latewood density (MXD) as a key metric. However, wood integrity is critical for accurate MXD‐based reconstructions, raising concerns when using potentially degraded relict wood. Quantitative wood anatomy (QWA) provides a morphometric alternative.

Selenium‐Chitosan Reduces Postharvest Decay of Red Globe Grapes by Improving Disease Resistance During Cold Storage

open access: yeseFood, Volume 6, Issue 2, April 2025.
This study explores the effect of selenium‐chitosan treatment (25 mg L⁻¹ selenium and 1.0% chitosan) on enhancing disease resistance in Red Globe grapes during cold storage at 0°C. The treatment significantly reduced the decay rate from 41.79% to 4.93% after 60 days, attributed to increased antioxidant enzyme activities.

Performance, adaptability, and multi‐trait stability of rice varieties (Oryza sativa L.) in rainfed conditions

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 8, Issue 1, March 2025.
Abstract Rainfed rice (Oryza sativa L.) cultivation is crucial for meeting food demand in regions like Bangladesh, where irrigation resources are scarce. A study was conducted in five rainfed districts during the 2022 Aman season. The objective was to assess grain yield performance, adaptation patterns, and identify a stable rice variety using multiple
