Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 regulates cell adhesion and membrane protrusive activity of ovarian cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

Chronological and Spatial Distribution of Skeletal Muscle Fat Replacement in FHL1‐Related Myopathies

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives Variants in the FHL1 gene cause FHL1‐related myopathies (FHL1‐RMs), a group of neuromuscular disorders with diverse clinical presentations. This study aimed to comprehensively characterize the spatial and temporal patterns of skeletal muscle fat replacement throughout the whole body in FHL1‐RMs, to examine disease progression over ...

Breeding report of a new early-maturing yellow firm-fleshed nectarine cultivar Zhongyou 19 Hao [PDF]

open access: yesGuoshu xuebao
Nectarine (Prunus persica var. nectarina) is an important variety of peach in the Rosaceae family. After the 1970s, China introduced some nectarine cultivars from Europe and America, which did not meet the taste preferences of domestic consumers. Through

Post‐COVID Fatigue Is Associated With Reduced Cortical Thickness After Hospitalization

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Neuropsychiatric symptoms are among the most prevalent sequelae of COVID‐19, particularly among hospitalized patients. Recent research has identified volumetric brain changes associated with COVID‐19. However, it currently remains poorly understood how brain changes relate to post‐COVID fatigue and cognitive deficits.

Inheritance pattern of leaf and fruit traits in watermelon[Citrullus lanatus (Thunb) Mansf.]

open access: yesJournal of Horticultural Sciences
Rare traits can significantly contribute to the development of trait-specific genotypes and may also be effectively used as morphological markers in breeding. Most of the watermelon cultivars or genotypes are having lobbed leaves but YF 5-2-7 exhibiting

Expression Differences of Pigment Structural Genes and Transcription Factors Explain Flesh Coloration in Three Contrasting Kiwifruit Cultivars

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2017
Fruits of kiwifruit cultivars (Actinidia chinensis and A. deliciosa) generally have green or yellow flesh when ripe. A small number of genotypes have red flesh but this coloration is usually restricted to the inner pericarp.

‘Jinyan’, an Interspecific Hybrid Kiwifruit with Brilliant Yellow Flesh and Good Storage Quality

open access: yes, 2012
In the world kiwifruit industry, there are both green-fleshed and yellow-fleshed kiwifruit in the marketplace (Huang, 2009). The dominant position of the green-fleshed kiwifruit is changing. The green-fleshed kiwifruit, represented by ‘Hayward’, dominate

Developmental, Neuroanatomical and Cellular Expression of Genes Causing Dystonia

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Dystonia is one of the most common movement disorders, with variants in multiple genes identified as causative. However, an understanding of which developmental stages, brain regions, and cell types are most relevant is crucial for developing relevant disease models and therapeutics.
