Serre Theorem for involutory Hopf algebras

open access: yes, 2009
We call a monoidal category ${\mathcal C}$ a Serre category if for any $C$, $D \in {\mathcal C}$ such that $C\ot D$ is semisimple, $C$ and $D$ are semisimple objects in ${\mathcal C}$.

Novel applications of shotgun phage display [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
In a shotgun phage display library, theoretically, the entire proteome of a bacterium is represented. Phages displaying specific polypeptides can be isolated by affinity selection, while the corresponding gene remains physically linked to the gene ...

Oxaloacetate decarboxylase of Archaeoglobus fulgidus: cloning of genes and expression in Escherichia coli [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Archaeoglobus fulgidus harbors three consecutive and one distantly located gene with similarity to the oxaloacetate decarboxylase Na+ pump of Klebsiella pneumoniae (KpOadGAB). The water-soluble carboxyltransferase (AfOadA) and the biotin protein (AfOadC)

Mutations of the Bacillus subtilis YidC1 (SpoIIIJ) insertase alleviate stress associated with σM-dependent membrane protein overproduction.

open access: yesPLoS Genetics, 2019
In Bacillus subtilis, the extracytoplasmic function σ factor σM regulates cell wall synthesis and is critical for intrinsic resistance to cell wall targeting antibiotics.

Dynamic analysis of flexible rotor-bearing systems using a modal approach [PDF]

open access: yes
The generalized dynamic equations of motion were obtained by the direct stiffness method for multimass flexible rotor-bearing systems. The direct solution of the equations of motion is illustrated on a simple 3-mass system.

Global dynamic modeling of a transmission system [PDF]

open access: yes
The work performed on global dynamic simulation and noise correlation of gear transmission systems at the University of Akron is outlined. The objective is to develop a comprehensive procedure to simulate the dynamics of the gear transmission system ...

Conditional lethal mutations separate the M13 procoat and Pf3 coat functions of YidC: different YIDC structural requirements for membrane protein insertion.

open access: yesThe Journal of biological chemistry, 2003
Conditional lethal YidC mutants have been isolated to decipher the role of YidC in the assembly of Sec-dependent and Sec-independent membrane proteins. We now show that the membrane insertion of the Sec-independent M13 procoat-lep protein is inhibited in a short time in a temperature-sensitive mutant when shifted to the nonpermissive temperature.

Protein import machineries in endosymbiotic organelles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
.: Chloroplast and mitochondria, the two organelles with an accepted endosymbiotic origin, have developed multiple translocation pathways to ensure the subcellular allocation of proteins synthesized by cytosolic ribosomes, and to guarantee their assembly

Targeting, isertion and localization of E. coli YidC.

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2002
YidC was recently shown to play an important role in the assembly of inner membrane proteins (IMPs) both in conjunction with and separate from the Sec-translocon. Little is known about the biogenesis and structural and functional properties of YidC, itself a polytopic IMP. Here we analyze the targeting and membrane integration of YidC using in vivo and
