Executive Compensation and the Cost of Debt [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We examine how executive compensation affects the cost of debt financing. Analyzing CEO pay data from the UK, we find that debt-like and equity-like pay components have opposite effects on the cost of debt.

Dynamic response of phenolic resin and its carbon-nanotube composites to shock wave loading [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We investigate with nonreactive molecular dynamics simulations the dynamic response of phenolic resin and its carbon-nanotube (CNT) composites to shock wave compression. For phenolic resin, our simulations yield shock states in agreement with experiments

Nonempirical Range-separated Hybrid Functionals for Solids and Molecules [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Dielectric-dependent hybrid (DDH) functionals were recently shown to yield accurate energy gaps and dielectric constants for a wide variety of solids, at a computational cost considerably less than that of GW calculations.

A Quality Improvement Initiative to Standardize Pneumocystis jirovecii Pneumonia Prophylaxis in Pediatric Patients With Solid Tumors

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Pediatric patients with extracranial solid tumors (ST) receiving chemotherapy are at an increased risk for Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PJP). However, evidence guiding prophylaxis practices in this population is limited. A PJP‐related fatality at our institution highlighted inconsistent prescribing approaches and concerns about

Sum rules for baryon decuplet magnetic moments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In chiral models with SU(3) group structure, baryon decuplet and octet magnetic moments are evaluated by constructing their sum rules to yield theoretical predictions. In these sum rules we exploit six experimentally known baryon magnetic moments.

Correlations among alfalfa yield components

open access: yesGenetika, 2006
Presented in this paper are the results of our study of correlations among yield components in ten alfalfa genotypes under open pollination (polycross) conditions. The study was conducted between 2000 and 2002 at the Rimski Sancevi Experiment Field of the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in Novi Sad.

Sickle Cell Disease Is an Inherent Risk for Asthma in a Sibling Comparison Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Sickle cell disease (SCD) and asthma share a complex relationship. Although estimates vary, asthma prevalence in children with SCD is believed to be comparable to or higher than the general population. Determining whether SCD confers an increased risk for asthma remains challenging due to overlapping symptoms and the ...
